Position Summary This position will work in collaboration with the Brown Alumni Association Board of Governors to create a new leadership body, with the proposed name "Alumni Diversity Coalition (ADC)," which will be composed of alumni leadership from the four major affinity groups which serve Brown's diverse alumni community: The Inman Page Black Alumni Council, the Brown University Latino Alumni Council, the Asian/Asian American Alumni Alliance, and TBGALA -- Transgender, Bisexual, Gay and Lesbian Alumni. Within this new body, this position will be responsible for the implementation of policies, annual goals and objectives, as well as its financial, program and administrative management. Guidance and direction is provided by the Multicultural Alumni Committee (MAC), which is a standing committee of the Brown Alumni Association Board of Governors, as well as the leadership of the affinity groups named. In addition, he/she provides leadership for the internal diversity training for staff and acts as consultant in diversity-related matters for the Alumni Relations department.

Position: Part-time(24 hours/week) Program Coordinator at the Asian American Center Northeastern University (Boston)
The AAC Program Coordinator will develop and implement programs, services, and/or events that integrate the academic, social, and cultural aspects of campus life for students at Northeastern, with an emphasis on Asian American issues. The Coordinator's primary responsibility is to the student-centered programs and projects that the AAC wishes to include in its portfolio. Specifically, the Coordinator will take a leadership role in the creation, implementation, and management of student leadership activities, peer mentoring programs, student affinity groups, and other day-to-day initiatives that are specifically tailored to increase involvement of students in Center activities. In addition, the Coordinator will provide mentoring and counseling to students in regards to personal, social, or cultural needs, and serve as a clearinghouse for students in terms of available resources and services at Northeastern.
The Program Coordinator must be comfortable with an entrepreneurial setting and 'start up' conditions, where all staff members of the Asian American Center will be asked to participate in multiple aspects of the Center's management, leadership, and basic operations. In addition to the primary responsibilities, the Program Coordinator will contribute to the planning of special events, programs, speakers, and other campus wide initiatives. When needed, the Program Coordinator will be called upon to represent the Center at various university programs or panels that require representation of the AAC, assistance with strategic planning activities, developing Center reports and evaluations, and the development of AAC literature, brochures, worksheets, handbooks, and manuals that will provide continuity from year to year. Overall, the Program Coordinator will work very closely with the Center Director to develop a comprehensive infrastructure that effectively supports the growth and advancement of the Asian American Center.
Qualifications include a Bachelor's Degree in Education, Psychology, Counseling, or Ethnic Studies with at least 2-3 years experience with program design, working closely with undergraduate students. Successful candidate will have a deep awareness of issues and concerns relevant to the Asian American community, and Asian American youth in particular. Relevant computer skills, experience in office management, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and strong cross-cultural communication skills are required. This individual must be forward-thinking, creative, and able to provide structure and organization in the development of new programs. P.O.V./American Documentary, Inc., public television's showcase of independent non-fiction film, seeks a Manager in its Community Engagement Department. This is one of P.O.V.'s signature activities, and the right candidate will be responsible for overseeing a variety of activities centered on moving films 'beyond broadcast'. This department oversees the planning and implementation for P.O.V.'s Youth Views project as well as commissioning and managing the production of P.O.V.'s Community Engagement activities, including forging and maintaining partnerships with national, regional and local organizations, working closely with filmmakers and local public television stations, and commissioning materials like lesson plans, facilitation guides and additional materials. The position begins when filled. This position reports directly to the Executive Director.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: ? Working closely with the Executive Director and Dept. Coordinator and Youth Views Coordinator in the overall management of P.O.V.'s Audience Engagement department; ? Developing and overseeing national partnerships and working closely with a wide variety of independent filmmakers to extend their films 'beyond broadcast' working with Dept. Coordinator. ? Developing and overseeing all aspects of season audience engagement events, including researching and writing proposals; tune-in copy; coordination of design; printing and mailing of flyers working with Dept. coordinator. ? Editing and proofreading materials; ? Proposal development and writing for new projects; ? Working closely with other P.O.V. departments; ? Strategically developing department activities in line with overall P.O.V. needs; ? Working with senior team as needed for strategic planning; ? Assuming additional related responsibilities as required
Qualifications: Education - BA and a minimum 5 years outreach and educational experience. Prefer experience in education and/or organizing/community organizational work. Knowledge of documentary film and commitment to independent media necessary. Knowledge of public television a plus.
Communication Skills - Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are necessary. Desire to collaborate with a committed, professional team. Strong track record working with diverse communities necessary. Successful track record in developing and funding new projects a plus.
Education/Organizing Background - Ability to draft and/or oversee the writing of lessons plans as per PBS guidelines, general audience Facilitation Guides, additional education materials such as Teacher's Guides a must. Experience using media in group settings for issue-based discussion purposes necessary. Proven track record in creating a maintaining a variety of partnerships with community-based and national groups. Experience in facilitation as well as working with youth (15-19) a plus.
Computer Skills - Standard computer skills (Filemaker Pro, word processing, etc.) Experience with database use and design. Ability to learn new software programs quickly. Familiarity with web site development a plus.

Willingness and ability to take on a wide range of tasks and accept responsibility for all phases of a project. Creative problem solver. The Protection Department was created in January 2000 to provide support and technical advice to IRC's overseas offices, as well as promote the identification of refugees in need of resettlement worldwide. Under the supervision of the Protection Department Director and in coordination with the Global Protection Program Manager, the Program Manager (Africa/Asia) will develop & support new IRC protection programs, prepare & deliver protection training workshops for field staff worldwide, and write project grant proposals. The Program Manager (Africa/Asia) will also perform basic administrative duties in support of the Department's activities. This position requires a considerable amount of foreign travel.
RESPONSIBILITIES: ?Under the guidance of the Protection Department Director develop protection proposals for IRC programs in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iran. ?Draft activities, indicators and program impact tools for use in project design and assessment. ?In coordination with the Global Protection Program Manager, modify established training materials to address the key interests of IRC field offices. Translate materials into French, as necessary. ?Conduct training sessions for IRC staff, and other partner NGO staff, particularly for programs in francophone Africa. Training sessions will be in either English or French. ?Backstop for the Protection Department Director and Global Protection Program Manager when either is traveling overseas. ?Maintain and file all protection-related documents. ?Assist the Global Protection Program Manager in monitoring the Department's budget and expenditures. ?Prepare general protection materials for use in staff orientation. ?Perform administrative tasks as needed.
