Class of 2002's new class project:
Supporting the Post-Graduate Fellowship of Tucker's Dartmouth Partners in Community Service (DCPS) Program
The Class of 2002 has a new Class Project: Supporting the Post-Graduate Fellowship of Tucker's Dartmouth Partners in Community Service (DCPS) Program.
The DPCS Post-Graduate Fellowship Program works as follows: Tucker and Dartmouth alumni provide support and access to Dartmouth seniors "seeking careers in organizations working for the common good." After a competitive interview and selection process, the Fellows work for one year at a non-profit organization. DPCS connects these eager graduates with agencies in need of entry level positions. The agencies commit to a minimum $30,000 annual salary, while Dartmouth alumni volunteers are matched with the Fellows to provide mentorship during their first professional experience.
How can '02s help?
First:
- Give a donation. Your donation goes directly to the DPCS Program at the Tucker Foundation, funding the administrative costs associated with the DPCS Post- Grad Fellowship Program.
But Tucker's DPCS Program needs more than just your money:
- Recommend a host Community Service Organization
- Be a mentor
- Be a member of the Alumni Board
- Tell another alum or class about the DPCS
Each year, more than 60 qualified, passionate seniors apply for this opportunity, yet resources only allow for a dozen or so graduates to become Fellows. To that end, DPCS is looking to Dartmouth alumni for help expanding the program, specifically in Boston, as well as anywhere else eager alumni reside. We encourage you to spend some time learning about this phenomenal mentoring and volunteer service program, which links alumni mentors with current Dartmouth students who are participating in community service projects around the country. You can help DPCS by volunteering as a mentor in your town or city, suggesting new Community Service Organizations that would be good locations for internships, and contributing funds to support the program.
