All D'45 Members, Wives, Widows, Friends - and - our extended
family - Dartmouth '44's, Dartmouth '46's
Dartmouth ' 45 2004 - "Mini Mini"
Sunday, March 14, 2004
Punta Gorda Fla. Ponce De Leon Park
The Florida Mini has become a tradition - with 7 mini's of experience our plan
is to assure # 8 is one you've got to make. After all at what better place
could a robust, mature, eager group of "D" seniors meet to cavort,
eat, drink and warm their bones - especially with classmates who know all their
lies and
we can speak only in lofty truths and, in an election year, have scholarly
discussions of lofty ideals and the future direction of NASA's space probes.
( Go to the
NASA web site if you wish be the expert who leads this latter discussion).
Obviously, veterans of this Mini, and Florida "snowbirds" and retirees
know Florida well: the fun, the camaraderie, the beer, the lunch, the romantic
sun and moonlight on the beach. However, many of our potential joiners may not.
If so, Airlines, resorts, each area are all in fierce competition - take a look
at Airlines, particularly Jet Blue's Web sit, Magazine/ newspaper ads, special "Deals" available
with credit card points, tie-ins with hotels, attractions, etc., Get away from
the traps at Disneyland, Sea World for a whole new adventure . Keep in mind you
will be joining one the premier "intellectual' groups (like yourself ,
at this Mini ). ( Free 6 pack to take home if you fill out the coupon somewhere
on this information enticed you into joining us.
The directions Bob Paulson printed in the Class newsletter last year are still
correct so we will not tax our reportorial skills further but rather borrow many
of his words:
Location: Any Florida map will show you where "heavenly" Punta Gorda
is located. Once there drop off Rte, 75 Nor S at exit 29; Take Rte 17 West (becomes

Gorda Isles"; cross three small canal bridges, bear left to end of road
in Ponce de Leon Park. Turn right immediately to see picnic shelter near "Wild
Animal Refuge (do not stop there they like older, tender flesh). The park is
about 3.5 miles from Rte 41. If it rains , which it can't possibly do, come
to the Park and we will tell you the location of Tom Armstrong's house at 161
