Friday morning saw four duffers, Marv Axelrod, John Hatheway, Dave Kurr & Pete Foster tee off at the Hanover Golf Course in the fog which soon lifted providing a very enjoyable round. Others saw the Hood Museum where the Class sponsored"Space for Dialogue" is of special interest, shop the specialty outlets, mosey around the new campus buildings or just enjoy the lovely Fall colors and atmosphere.
After lunch on our own, we convened at the Wren Room in the Baker complex for our Annual Class Meeting the minutes for which are to be found in the Minutes pages of this website. Reports were heard from all officers and committees, a budget passed for 2008 and a special announcement made wherein our Space for Dialog project at the Hood, which has been acclaimed locally and by Museums elsewhere, will be endowed by efforts of the Class of 1967 to insure its support, continuation and impact in future years. The Class of 1948 will be acknowledged as the project founder in ongoing years.
Friday evening we enjoyed Cocktails and the Class (Surf & Turf) Dinner at the Inn's Hayward Lounge meeting our Scholar Athlete, Soccer star Nick Christman and hearing details from the College's Jack Wilson about the expansive building program which is quite impressive and ongoing. It was a satisfying day.
On Saturday, after a stirring meeting with Football Coach Buddy Teevens at the Top of the Hop, we enjoyed the traditional Tailgate Lunch at the Observatory followed by a very satisfying victory over Penn, the first in 10 years, 21-13 to start off a much improved season in the Ivy League. Our usual gathering at theTommy Dent Cabin was shifted to the DOC facility on Occom Pond due to a large tree falling on the former. The Bar-B-Que was great as usual.
Bud and Ginny Gedney were most gracious and generous in providing the very elaborate and delicious Sunday Brunch
at their delightful home in Claremont, NH which was a finale for the
Mini not to be exceeded. If none of the foregoing had taken place, this
repast and convivial gathering was an event to come for in itself and
wound up a stupendous Reunion which has become a tradition of reknown.
Twelve, including 5 ladies, were able to attend the Wednesday evening cocktail hour and dinner at Dowd's Inn in Lyme. Pete and Foxy had spent the day on the slopes, and reported a great time (although none of the rest of us were inclined to join them next year). Pete's note: Maybe there will be other skiers who will - John Fenno? Conversation was continuous and wide-ranging, and Tami put on her usual fine meal. The outside temperature was a mild 15 degrees. The rest of you would have enjoyed it had you been able to attend.
As in past years, The Dowds' Country Inn reserves guestrooms for overnight accommodations on the evenings we select. The group rate is offered to you and the Class of 1948 inclusive of a full country breakfast, afternoon tea and New Hampshire Taxes. On Wednesday evening, the Class of 1948 will host a dinner gathering at the Inn
