These good folks have been working hard, with Classmates and
Jennifer Casey of Alumni Relations for several months to bring
about ideas and plans for THE GREATEST CLASS REUNION ever.

(a miscellaneous items and attendance fee total of only $100)

                          Stadium or by webcast at the Inn, with Dartmouth Aires at halftime

                        - A guided Tour of the new (Black family) Visual Arts Center
                        - Cocktail Reception and hearing Dartmouth 1948 Scholar-Athletes
- Exploring, exchanging stories with Classmates, your choice

President Warren Daniell's report on the PLANNING :

It started at 10:00 AM Dec. 5, 2007 when John Hatheway, Bud Gedney and I met with Corine Dungey, Assistant Director of Alumni Events, to kick off planning for our 60th, which will take place June 9-11 2008 (Mon.-Wed.)
. John and Bud have thankfully volunteered to be co-chairmen of the upcoming Reunion. We couldn't have two who are more experienced. One certainty is that rooms for 1948 classmates will be available in the Hanover Inn, along with a central dormitory and off-campus option. John and Bud will be in frequent touch with Corine, who promises to be very helpful. They are also setting up the reunion committee; Bud Munson has agreed to be Treasurer for the event, and many of the rest of you are likely to be contacted.

At our Mini Reunion, John Hatheway announced the current activities and arrangements:

PLAN FOR 60th REUNION

14 Double rooms are being reserved at the Hanover Inn - (until January 30, 2008)
10 Double rooms are being reserved at the Fireside Inn at the low rate of: $99.95
Middle Mass will be the Class Dorm (Mon. & Tues.) with Private Baths, -Handicapped accessible

Fabulous Fifty-Fifth Reunion (2003)***

Ray Richard, our red-hot Reunion Chairman for the "Fabulous 55th" put together a top-notch team of loyal '48s who had long been meeting, thinking, planning and scheming to bring about a Great Party for
"DARTMOUTH'S GREATEST CLASS" held on: Monday June 9 - Wednesday June 11, 2003 in Hanover. With an optional SIGHTSEEING day, Thursday June 12and an optional Moosilauke Overnight Sunday June 8 (see below)

Ray held his last of many meetings, June 3, 2003, in Norwich before the regular monthly luncheon.
Result: A truly enjoyable and memorable reunion..

Plans were made for 75 attendees based on responses to date. A final mailing went out to all classmates. It was a masterpiece of information, schedules, directions and a campus map.

Special opportunity for outdoors people D.O.C. MOOSILAUKE MOUNTAIN OVERNIGHT
The Ravine Lodge was available for each of the five reuning classes 1943 through 1968 Sunday June 8 & Monday June 9.
This included a 5 pm reception (BYOB) 6:30 Vegetarian Dinner and songs, stories and fireplace fire.
And on Monday, a 7:30 Country Breakfast at the Lodge plus a Trail Lunch provided. The Drurys, Brisbins and Fosters enjoyed this "roughing it" outing with other classes. Bunk beds, foam mattresses, sheets, blankets and towel provided.

................. air conditioned comfort of Dartmouth's newest private suites. These were single rooms with a bath between. Very handy.
Monday June 9
8:30 1948 Golf Tournament at the "D" Country Club run smoothly by veteran golfer, Bill Scott.
12:00 Noon - Lunch on our own or at Professional Schools
10:00 Registration and warm welcome and gifts by Committee members
1:30 & 2:30 Bus Tour of the area. From Tuck Drive with an excellent student guide aboard.
2:30 A College sponsored panel "A Look to the Future - Professional Schools Tomorrow" Moore Theater. Professors from Tuck, Thayer and the Medical School - an informative forward view.
3:00 Academic and Affiliated Groups - Open Houses until 5:00 pm
3:30 Ladies Program arranged by Pat MacAllister - Buchanan Lounge
5:00 1948 Reception - Byrne Courtyard, Tuck School; a fine cocktail hour with old friends.
6:30 Lobster and Clam Bake at the Tuck Rotunda - a sumptuous feast and fellowship
8:30 Alumni Glee Club Concert and University Chorus of the Upper Valley - Spaulding at Hopkins Center This was a highlight of the Reunion with excellent harmony. Bob Herrick sang. An inspiring experience.
9:00 Gathering at the Tuck Buchanan Lounge for night caps and conversation.
Tuesday June 10
7:30 1948 Breakfast - Byrne Hall @ Tuck Dutch Treat - an expansive buffet selection.

10:00 President James Wright speaks and answers questions at Spaulding Auditorium
12:00 Noon -"Tasty" Luncheon, Faculty Lounge and Terrace in the sunshine - Hopkins
1:00 1948 Championship Tennis Tournament Clay Courts - John VanRaalte, Coordinator, great fun
2:00 Tour of the Hood Museum - By Director Derrick Cartwright (very impressive) see "Projects"
2;30 "Dartmouth Confronts a Changing World" Dean of Faculty, Michael Gazzaniga, Moore Hall
3:00 Tour of Perennial gardens at the President's House, Webster Avenue - quite worthwhile
4:00 1948 Memorial Service at Rollins Chapel, published program. Rev. Lou Springsteen, '48
..........Honored were the 165 Class members lost including 44 since the 50th reunion
5:30 Cocktails and Steak Dinner, Hanover Inn - Slides by speaker, Doctor/Astronaut Jay Buckey
9:30 Star Gazing at Shattuck Observatory cancelled due to overcast sky.
Wednesday, June 11
7:30 Breakfast at Byrne Hall - Dutch Treat (the fluffy pancakes and syrup were my choice)
7:30 Estate Planning Seminar/Continental Breakfast, Westside Dining Room, Thayer (reservations)
8:30 Nostalgia Hour in Lounge Old photos displayed, Sonny Drury reminisced. Hilarious.
9:30 Class Picture at Baker Library - West Steps
10:00 Class Meeting at Rockefeller One, lower level - see notes on "Meeting Minutes" page
12:00 Noon Tasty Luncheon at Courtyard Cafe, Hopkins where many said farewell.
2:00 In depth visit to the Rauner Library in Webster Hall, the rare books collection (amazing)
2:30 "US Trade Policy in the Globalization Era" with Economics Prof. Douglas Irwin, Moore Hall
3:00 Another tour opportunity of the Perennial Gardens at the President's House, Webster Avenue
3:30 Panel Presentation - Sex, Drugs and Rock, then and now - Rockefeller 1930's room

The Committee which worked long and hard would like you to know that nothing was considered too good for you while we were all together again this June. This program could well be considered the BEST reunion ever experienced. Communing with Hanover again which was once such a big part of our lives and, in addition, catching up with the new computerized Dartmouth, cutting edge medicine, world class Library and Museum and the Arts made the whole event complete.
