OBITUARY JOHN G. GANNON

John Gregory Gannon (Jack) died of cancer on April 17, 2009 at the Hospice of the Golden Isles in Bruinswick, Georgia.  Jack was born in Milwaukee and graduated from Wellesley (Massachusetts) High School.  At Dartmouth he joined Kappa Sigma Fraternity, earned a letter as coxwain of the crew, and graduated cum laude.  He went on to Tuck School, and graduated with his Master's in 1952.  He then joined the U. S. Navy where he spent three years as a lieutenant j.g.

In 1964 he married Terry Carroll and they had a son and a daughter.  After working for several companies Jack enjoyed a 19-year career with Cameo Curtains in New Bedford, MA retiring as its treasurer and vice president in 1986.  He then joined Terry's company Toy Box Toy Stores Inc. where he worked for 11 years until retiring in 1999.  He was active in alumni affairs for Dartmouth, serving as an assistant class agent and chairing the 15th reunion of the Class of 1951.  In his community he served two terms on the Mattapoisett, MA school committee.  Besides Terry he is survived by children John '87 and Julie and four grandchildren.
