Robert William Higbee

Robert William Higbee of St. Petersburg, Florida died of heart failure on February 6, 2008. Born in Lake Forest, Illinois, Bob graduated from Lake Bluff High School, was a member of Kappa Sigma at Dartmouth and played in the band and joined the Dartmouth Chrristian Union and Air Force R.O.T.C. After receiving his M.B.A. from Tuck in 1955, Bob entered flight training and graduated as a single engine jet pilot. He became the first person to fly under Michigan’s Mackinac Bridge, the western hemisphere’s longest suspension bridge. After service, Bob joined Armstrong Cork as sales rep in Nebraska, Missouri and New York, rising to the #2 position in the consumer products division. He then became national sales manager and moved on to the position of vice president sales marketing and later as president of a subsidiary company. Eventually, Bob started and ran an executive search firm in Rowayton, Connecticut. His three children, William of St Petersberg, Annie and Thomas of Owls Head, Maine, and four grandchildren survive Bob.
