Harry Caleb Rockfeller, Jr. Captain Harry Caleb Rockeller, Jr. USN (Ret) died in Viera, Florida on January 10, 2008 after a brief illness. Born in Springfield MA, "Rocky," an economics major, joined the N.R.O.T.C. at Dartmouth and was commissioned an Ensign in the US Navy upon graduation. His 25-year Navy career included service on submarines and in the communications field, including command tours on the USS Quillback in Key West and the Naval Communications Station in Norfolk, VA. Harry joined Western Union Space Communications, a company shuttle program, in 1979 and served as the on-site representative at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD. He moved to a retirement community for military officers in Viera, FL, in 1990, after suffering a debilitating stroke. Harry served on the vestry of his churches in Alexandria, VA and Melbourne, FL. Surviving Harry are his wife of 37 years, Sue, daughter and two sons, three grandsons, two great-grandchildren and a brother, Alan Thyberg. |
