REPORTS

Secretary's report - Andy Thomas reported that all columns were submitted and printed since his term as secretary began 5 years ago. Class minutes of October 20, 2007 were approved

Webmaster's report - Andy Thomas reported that 11,325 hits on the Class website have occurred since August 18, 1999, which amounts to over 100 per month. It is changed every month and includes news, Class birthdays and obituaries.

Treasurer's report - John Trimble reportedthat the annual report from last June for Fiscal 2007 was filed with the College.  Please see Attachment A. John reported a current bank account balance of $165,000 which he said should be enough to cover reunion expenses. He also reminded the attendees that we were still looking for voluntary contributions for the reunion book. It was noted that the Class’ charge for the DAM will be reduced from $10 to $5 per issue. Trimble recognized Steve Quickel who got a standing O for our great Reunion Book. Steve then thanked those who helped him, in particular, Ted Harris, Bill Hartley, Herb Isaacson and Andy Thomas. Several Classmates have already responded to the need to purchase the book at $90, as the total for it is $50,000.

Newsletter Editor's report - John Murphy moved to raise Class dues to $100. Motion was not seconded. A special effort to increase the pre-Reunion Newsletters was fulfilled to encourage Reunion attendance.

Head Agent's report – Bob Downey provided a summary of the Class of 1958 Alumni Fund results: We raised $3,585,858.58 which is $562,841.58 above the previous record from the Class of 1952. This exceeded our goal of $3,058,000. Our participation index is 82.6% with a few days left to improve it. Gersh  thanked all classmates who made a gift to improve the undergraduate experience and the 82 classmates who worked on the fund drive making calls, following up and not only beating our goal but establishing an all-time College record.

See Attachment B.

Gift Planning Chair's report - Mel Alperin reported that 30 Classmates are now members of the Bartlett Tower Society, representing benefactors who name Dartmouth in their wills.

Our Class owes a sincere thank you to all of the 82 classmates who worked to make our fundraising campaign for the Dartmouth College Fund successful.

This year’s Dartmouth College Fund drive closes on June 30, 2008.  As of today, here are our results:

            Check #1-Dartmouth College Fund-$3,585,858.58 (June 7, 2008)

This compares favorably with 1952’s 50th Reunion Record of $2,522,533

The RGC adjusted our goal to account for inflation in comparison to 1952’s record:

            Our new goal - $3,058,000

Our current results $3,585,858.58

            1952’s record adjusted to 2008 dollars $3,023,017

We are $562,841.58 above the 1952 record in inflation adjusted dollars

Last year we raised $406,431 for the DCF; this year’s giving is 8.82  times last years. Our class has certainly stretched for Dartmouth.

Participation- 82.6%.  395 Classmates.  45 additional classmates required to achieve 92%.

Check #2-Captures Check #1 and all gifts and pledges made by the individual to

Dartmouth since the Campaign for the Dartmouth Experience kicked off on July

since 1958 and has donated $53,658,234 in total to all areas of Dartmouth

            since 1958.

Thank you to all of our Dartmouth Classmates who have been generous for the College so that today’s students can benefit from the Dartmouth Experience as we have.
