LEADERSHIP CHANGE IN CLASS DCF EFFORTS
Class President Ray Becker made the following announcement today:
- As you know, the leadership of our class's Dartmouth College
Fund efforts has been in the capable hands of Sam Werner, Head Agent, and his
trusty deputy, Pete Schreier, Assistant Head Agent.
- As time has gone on, Sam has become increasingly involved in
several additional volunteer efforts closely related to his work in the field
of Physics. One of the most time consuming of Sam's recent volunteer
efforts is the result of his being named Co-Chair of the Dartmouth College
Physics and Astronomy Alumni Advisory Board, which consists of 14 Dartmouth
graduates prominent in the field of physics. We offer hearty congratulations to
Sam on this prestigious appointment.
- In light of this, he has decided to resign from his DCF
position in order to concentrate his energies on these activities, and I have reluctantly accepted that
resignation, with all the thanks in the world for his devotion and service to
the class.
- Fortunately, Pete has worked closely with Sam over the past
three years, and has agreed to step into the breach. I am delighted to welcome Pete to this very
important position, and I have the utmost confidence that he will provide the
enthusiastic leadership that we need to be successful. Please join me in wishing Sam well and
welcoming Pete as our DCF Head Agent, effective immediately.
CLASS LOSES A GIANT IN DAVE GAVITT
Dave passed away in a hospital near his home in Rumford, RI on Friday, September 16, 2011 after a long illness.
While his contribution to basketball is celebrated and noted throughout the world, he will be known by us as a caring, giving and incredibly committed classmate, husband, father and friend.
We are 'oh so lucky' to have been touched by him.
An early obituary is published in our Obituaries section, which includes one approved by his son Dan, and several other media articles and comments about Dave from classmates.
HANOVER MINI ... WET! WACKY! WONDERFUL!
- If you want to see who got wet in Hanover, go to the Mini-Reunions page of the ACTIVITIES section.
- Yes! We lost to Penn in our first night game at Memorial Field ... a game we should have won!
- Yes! We got wet ... at the game and through lots of the weekend.
- But, all who were in Hanover wished that more classmates could have enjoyed the students, new learning, events and get togethers, and the fun of continuing or making friendships.
- Your mini-reunion chairs - Charlie Pinkerton and Dave Marshall - will be offering their summary and details soon.
THE IMAGES OF OUR 50TH REUNION ARE STILL A JOY TO BEHOLD
To perpetuate the afterglow of the reunion, we have kept all of the information, articles, photos and videos in the 50TH REUNION Section of our website.
Go! Enjoy! Reminisce! ... even if you could not attend.
