When we learn of the death of a classmate, we will verify the death and then immediately send an email as well as post it on the class website.

Allan Munro, our class secretary, will contact the surviving family members, and get approval of an obituary from the appropriate parties. He will send a copy of that obituary to the College for publication in the Dartmouth Alumni Magazine.

However, because the Magazine has limited space, and their publication schedule has a long leadtime, the official obituary may not be printed for months after the fact. Therefore, Allan will email this information to all class members, including wives and widows for whom we have current email addresses.

We hope that this process will be helpful and respectful to all concerned.
