More on the Constitution from our Alumni Council Representative

8/27/2006 As the election approaches more controversy continues to appear. The opponents are getting more vocal although they appear to be wildly outnumbered. Here is some sampling of the opposition (as opposed to the strong support expressed above and the orignal work by our classmates Jim Adler and Joe Mandel who are on the AGTF that wrote the new constitution). It is really hard to find a spin free version as there are lots of subjective issues.

DISCLAIMER - personal opinion of Walt Daniels, webmaster.

The current situation with two governing bodies is clearly broken. The AGTF has tried to come up with a solution based on a lot of compromise. This solution is good enough that it deserves everyone's support. Once it is functioning for a while we may see many things that can be improved. Take the evolutionary approach. The new constitution provides a better base starting point than the current one.

Progress report 5/31/2006

During its 192nd meeting, May 18-20, 2006, the Alumni Council unanimously ratified the proposed new constitution presented by the AGTF.

Alumni Governance Task Force (AGTF)

  • AGTF is charged with producing a new constitution that recombines the Association of Alumni and Alumni Council.
  • We have two members on the task force, Jim Adler and Joe Mandel.
  • Very controversial
  • Ask Jim and Joe questions or give them your comments which will be published here unless you explicitly say not to in the comments.
  • Alumni Association Announces Special Meeting Feb. 12, 2006 to vote on changing voting procedure for constutional amendments. This is only step one of the process to combine the Association of Alumni and Alumni Council. It removes the necessity of being present in Hanover to vote on amendments and opens the voting to all alums by "all media".
