Trustee Alumni Relations CommitteeDear Class Officers, We would like to update you on an initiative by the recently formed Trustee Alumni Relations Committee (?The Committee?). The Committee?s objective is to identify and address the topics that are most on the minds of alumni. The topics exclude governance issues, which fall under the domain of the Governance Committee. The Committee has reached out to a variety of alumni organizations, including the Class Officers. After speaking with the Class Officer Executive Committee and other alumni groups, two topics on the minds of alumni stood at the top of the list: 1) Health of undergraduate education at Dartmouth today (e.g. emphasis on teaching, role of research, class size, enrollment, interdisciplinary cooperation, etc.) 2) Have Dartmouth's core mission and aspirations changed? The Committee is now in the process of addressing these two topics. In an email this week, the Committee outlined an action plan (see attached). We encourage you to attend the Alumni Group meetings planned in April and May around the country. We feel that these meetings will provide a good step toward improved communication between alumni and the trustees. A clear, two-way communication channel for alumni is important and we commend the trustees for this initiative. Best regards, Ellie Loughlin '89 and Laura Mattson '89 Co-Presidents, Class Officers Association
