FALL REUNION OCTOBER 2010
Dear ‘61s and families:
A GALA Fall Mini-Reunion is fast approaching. This year we meet during HOMECOMING and, as it is the one before our 50th Reunion, we are expected to make a great showing. Plans are afoot for our own High School band to lead us to Dartmouth Hall and the bonfire! We hope you will include in your plans a visit to the Hanover Plain on the weekend of October 29 - 31, 2010, for the HARVARD football game. LODGING: A block of rooms again has been reserved at $139 + 9 % VT tax (leaf peeping season) at the former Comfort Suites which by then will be a Marriott Suites in White River Jct. Rooms will be held for us until September 28. (Ask for “Dartmouth Class of ‘61 Block” (802 291-9911.) Also, we will repeat our happy return to the Sumner Mansion in Hartland VT under new management, (802) 299-0639, where there are 4 rooms. EVENTS: For those who can come early on Friday, we will again consider a walk at the Baum Conservation Area on Moose Mtn at 11 AM with a BYO picnic lunch. Easy walking; great views. There may be some afternoon seminars, one on the First Year Book ‘ 1491: New Revelations of the Americas Before Columbus’ by Charles Mann. It is a great book and one you might want to read before coming to Hanover. Plans for this will be confirmed as soon as the College puts it in the schedule. We will regroup for cocktails and dinner at 5:00 PM in the Drake Room downstairs in the Hanover Inn so we will be close to the 7:00 PM parade starting point on Crosby St behind the stadium. Saturday morning we will continue our tradition of meeting with the students whom we support with the addition of some of our 2011 students we are mentoring through to our 50 th Reunion and will join at Commencement. We will have a box lunch before the football game with Harvard at 12:30. Weather permitting, we will gather after the game at the Frost Statue. Saturday Night Dinner will be at The Sumner Mansion in Hartland, VT. We will continue our wonderful culinary experience from prior years with a meal prepared by Christophe. Besides a speaker from the Dartmouth faculty, we will have students come to enliven the evening. REGISTRATION: By September 15, Please send your registration form to me with payment made out to “ Dartmouth Class of 1961” to reserve your spot Here’s a link to the Registration Form that can be filled out on-line, saved, and printed. We look forward to another stimulating weekend in Hanover.
