Class of 1963 Fiftieth Reunion “Her Spell On Us Remains” The Preliminary Program January 2012
While the substance of the program will be fleshed out during 2012, the final schedule won’t likely be fixed until registration begins in 2013. There is, however, much that is known and in some cases prescribed.
The starting point for most of us is the reality that many classmates whom we have not seen in a lot of years will assemble to rekindle friendships and relationships. The time and the environment to foster those meetings, handshakes, hugs and conversations is surely “the stuff” of the reunion. We are expecting a big turnout, so we are allowing lots of time to renew these friendships. There are so many classmates we knew well, others that we wish we’d known better, and still others that we would like to meet.
Before registration begins on Friday the 7th, we know that many will come for a DOC Moosilauke overnight and others for an early-bird dinner Thursday. Regular check in starts on Friday morning at 9am. Dorms are open at this time. Our dorms and headquarters will be across the street from the Class Tent on the Alumni Gym lawn in the East Wheelock Cluster. The Class Tent will be large, with piano and well stocked for many hours.
The College will organize a number of functions, some new, some “old traditions”. On Friday we’ll be joining the class of ’13 for a BBQ, there will be professional school luncheons, President Kim will receive us at his home and the Glee Club will be in concert. Saturday will see a memorial service, class photo and class meeting. Then we will be honored Saturday at a luncheon by The College. Of course, we will dine in style both Friday and Saturday evenings. And there will be music! We’ll have bands during meals and at the tent, a reunion of the ’63 glee club for the memorial service, and a sing along around the piano late into the evening?
On Sunday, June 9, we will be part of the Commencement Procession and enjoy the Commencement Exercises. After Commencement, many of us will remain under “Her Spell” and want to continue in the moment. Extension to Tuesday the 11th will see time for sports, a special program for spouses and widows, more forums/seminars, a lot more time in the tent and around the piano. We’ll dine well…and there will be music. Please try to extend your first and only fiftieth reunion on campus!
Whatever the burning issue(s) of the world may be in mid-2013, we have the class luminaries and College faculty to provide stimulating commentary and insight in forum and discussion. Please contact the Reunion Committee if/when you are certain what the issue of greatest import in the world will be at that time. And please check this site often as it will be updated as new reunion information is made available.
