President's Letter
July, 2008
Dear Classmates, Family and Friends:
I hope you are having an enjoyable summer. 102 ‘63’s and 85 guests got an early start by celebrating our 45th Reunion. We enjoyed warm, sunny weather, great fellowship, and fine food and wine, reveling in the continuing Dartmouth experience. We owe Dan Muchinsky and Mary Barnes a great debt of gratitude for their fine work in chairing our 45th. At our Class meeting, we thanked Marty Bowne for his outstanding leadership, congratulated Bob Bysshe for orchestrating another record setting ’63 Alumni Fund Drive, and welcomed new Class officers. We reviewed Class activities and decided to: [1] increase dues to $75 to cover increased expenses as we plan our 50th Reunion;[2] continue projects which last year supported three students interning with community organizations around the country; and [3] continue scholarship support. . We now have three $50,000 scholarships and hope to fund a fourth by 2013.
Looking forward, the ’63 fall mini-reunion is scheduled for October 17-19, so we can celebrate Dartmouth Night and hopefully watch the Big Green defeat Holy Cross. Sam Cabot is in charge and has planned a wonderful weekend. Details will be forthcoming in the ’63 Newsletter and Website. Attending the fall mini-reunion gives you a two-fer: enjoy the incomparable fall foliage of New England and renew 63 friendships. I can’t promise a three-fer, but the Big Green should be greatly improved this year.
Attached is your dues billing for FY 08-09. 377 classmates and widows paid dues this past year and we hope even more of you will contribute this year as we start planning for our BIG 50. Each class is responsible for funding its own activities, so we need your financial support every year to pay the cost of the Dartmouth Alumni Magazine, the Class Newsletter, Class Projects, and Class Scholarships. Our current priorities for use of your contributions are: Class communications, assistance to undergraduates, and planning our 50th.
Thank you very much for your on-going financial support of the Class. We pledge we will continue to be good stewards of your contributions.

President, Class of 1963
