DARTMOUTH COLLEGE

CLASS OF 1964

FROM THE AUGUST 1997 ISSUE
NORTH MASS.

. . . This month's column features the sixteen members of the class who began their Dartmouth life as residents of North Mass. BRUCE CAMPBELL (Rochester, NY) has been with Eastman Kodak for 30 years and is currently a customer support manager for the business imaging systems division. Married to Mary-Lou whom he met on a road-trip to Smith (you remember them) in 1965, Woody reports that life is good and that he is looking forward to the next 30 years! JIM CORNEHLSEN (New York, NY) is now a senior vice-president with Scott Edwards Consultants, where he is involved with senior management recruiting for media clients, but more significantly, he continues to sing in an all-male University Glee Club. GARTH GREGORY (Chico, CA) is a partner in a Northern California radiology group and continues to play basketball (although he admits to recently being "called up" from the open league to join the 50 and over league.) ED LANGENBACH (Bellevue, WA) who claims to be a "first-time caller" is a partner in a middle-sized law firm focusing on real estate development and business litigation. In addition, Ed has been active in local government when not skiing or hiking in the great Northwest. TONY LOTT (Hudson, OH) continues to work for Mansdorf & Associates, while BOB MERRILL (Ridgefield, CT) is now an executive vice-president with Fraser Papers in Stanford, CT. Bob joined Fraser Papers after 25 years with Boise Cascade Corp. and is in charge of sales and marketing for his new firm.

. . . Deep in the heart of Texas (Austin) resides JOHN ROBERTSON who is the author of several books and is a professor at the University of Texas Law School, while ED STERN (Englewood, CO) is a director of a Denver law firm. However, Ed speaks most proudly of his fishing exploits in New Zealand where he recently caught a 30 pound salmon. Also practicing law is MICHAEL SIMONSON (New York, NY). Mike is a partner in a NYC firm and is volunteer president of the largest non-profit health care organization in the country, the United Cerebral Palsy Association. Former North Mass residents and Theta Delt brothers PETE STECK (Mesopotamia, OH) and CHIP WAITE (Rye, NY) both went on to careers in the business world. Chip is still with McKinsey & Company in New York, but Pete abandoned the large corporate world to form a real estate management firm and continues to "have fun, smile, and enjoy life." North Mass was also the Dartmouth birthplace of two college professors. GEORGE JOHNSON (Clayton, MO) is a professor of biology at Washington University in St. Louis and ROBERT STRICHARTZ (Ithaca, NY) is a professor of Mathematics at Cornell. And finally, BILL KRUEGER (Vernon Rockwell, CT), JIM HARKEY (Tecumseh, MI) and TOM WRIGHT (Contoocook, NH) who were members of the original North Mass contingent escaped my research web. We would love to hear from you.

. . . In closing, a point to ponder... Why was a picture of a member of our class used to personify the lament of a member of the class of 1949 regarding the scourge of coeducation in the March issue of the Dartmouth Alumnae Magazine (see p. 20)?
