DARTMOUTH COLLEGE

CLASS OF 1964

FROM THE JUNE 1997 ISSUE
BISSELL HALL (cont.)

. . .Well, I'm back after a two-month hiatus to attend to some "sandwich generation" stuff, and this month I want to complete my report on the former Bissell Hall residents by focusing on our Bissell classmates in the business world. Starting in New England, IVARS BEMBRIS (Hampton Falls, NH) is still with Amicon in Beverly, Mass., while CARL DUREI (Wayland, MA) is a partner with Arthur Andersen . HARVY RHODE (Kennebunk, ME) is a self-employed insurance agent and writes proudly of his son, David, who won The Pulitzer Prize for foreign journalism for his work in Bosnia with the Christian Science Monitor. KEITH DUPREE (Newtown, CT) retired after 28 years of teaching high school math to work as a personal financial advisor affiliated with American Express Financial Service. Also retired from teaching and banking respectively, are RUSTY HYDE (Etna, NH) who splits his time between the Upper Valley and Bar Harbor, Maine and BILL KRUGER (Exeter, NH) who is now doing what HE wants to do--restoring and landscaping antique homes and writing a family history.

. . .Moving south down I-95, CHUCK FEWELL (Hastings-on-Hudson, NY) took his law degree to Deutsche Bank AG where he is general counsel for the bank's investment and commercial operations in North America, while further to the west in Ligoner, Pennsylvania, PROSS MELLON is the president and CEO of his family's philanthropic and investment organization, and continuing down the coast, MIKE MACMURRAY (Alexandria, VA) is still working in the Office of the Secretary of Defense.

. . .Moving to the Mid-West, KJELL JOHANSON (Milwaukee, WI) was at last report working for the Wisconsin Energy Corporation, while DAVE STENGER (Indianapolis, IN) is a treasury operations manager for Eli Lilly Company. ED TYRANSKI (Rockford, IL) is now Executive vice-president for North American Operations for Thermos Corporation and ALAN FERRIS (Houston, TX) is president and CEO of Arruth Associates a real estate management and development firm specializing in multi-family properties. Out west, at last report, GILBERT KRUSCHWITZ (Anchorage, AK) was still in the real estate business, while HARVEY STRONG (San Jose, CA) was working for IBM Corporation. Further down the coast CHRIS VANCURA (Palos Verdes, CA) is the president of a bunch of companies including Stabond Corporation and remembers his Bissell suitemates with great fondness and marvels at how intelligent we all must have been since (unlike our children), most of us managed to graduate in four years.

. . .Finally, my Bissell research included a number of unsuccessful attempts to contact some of our classmates. Among those I was unable to reach (along with their last known address) were GARY BENEDICT (Valley, WA), DAVID DONNLEY (Sonoma, CA), JOHN ENGLISH (Londonderry, VT), RONALD HERZOG (San Francisco, CA), GEORGE MCBATH (Naples, FL), VINCENT MCCORMICK (Chambersburg, PA), MICHAEL RIDER (Woodcliff Lake, NJ), RICHARD SCARAMELLI (East Swansey, NH), TOM SEYMOUR (Tokyo, JAPAN), KEVIN SHORE (Nantucket, MA), GABRIEL THOMAS (Geneva, SWITZERLAND), and DON WILLARD (Lexington, MA). If you are out there, please keep in touch.
