– CLASS OF 1971
The letters have been sparse
and the e-mails few and far between. Have
our lives become that boring that no one has had
interesting happen to them lately? Hasn’t
anyone changed jobs, retired or won the Lottery? Creative
writing was never my strong suit
and I need a little help from my classmates to keep this column filled. I would appreciate your assistance in
providing me with information to pass along to the class.
Nels Armstrong reports that, in his travels to
Washington, D.C., he was joined by
classmate Duane Birdbear to hear
President Jim Wright speak to black alumni in the area.
In addition, Nels met with classmate Ken DePaul
at the annual meeting of the
Dartmouth Club of the Piedmont. Congratulations
and best wishes to classmate John
Emerson who won the 2003 Presidential Award for Excellence in
Mathematics and Science Teaching for the State of New Hampshire. John teaches in the Joffrey, NH, Middle
School and he traveled to Washington, D.C. to receive the award.
Sadly, I must report the
death of Dominick Puccio who died in
the latter part of 2003. While at
Dartmouth, Dominick was a History major, a member of Gamma Delta Chi
and a bassist for the popular rock and roll band, Tracks.
Thomas Loucks has joined Trend Mining Company in
Denver, Colorado, as President and
CEO. For the past 5 years Tom has acted
as an independent consultant and financial advisor to small companies,
them on business organization and acquisition matters.
David Clem, managing
partner of Lyme Properties, enlisted the assistance of his college
roommate, Jonathan Wolken, founder of Pilobolus,
for some new dance pieces to celebrate the inaugural IDEAS Boston
Conference. With two new Kendall Square
buildings as a backdrop, members of Pilobolus performed two pieces
for the event by Dave.
My wife Denise and I are
breathing a sigh of relief as our youngest daughter, Julie, has just
from Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York, and we are now free
our “extra” few dollars on ourselves! Julie
is in the midst of her Master’s Degree in Early
Childhood/Childhood Education and daughter Christina, who already has
Master’s in guidance and counseling, is gainfully employed (and finally
school) in Los Angeles, CA.
Enjoy the rest of the summer
and send us some of your news to pass along to your classmates!
