CLASS OF 1971
CLASSNOTES
FOR SUBMISSION 11/05

I received an interesting email from the Friends of the Juneau Public Library's Amazing Bookstore, which has received as a donation a copy of the 1967 Green Book. They would like to give it a good home if someone from our class is interested in receiving it. They request a donation to at least cover shipping and handling. If anyone is interested you can contact heidiag@gci.net.

Bob King writes that he recently completed a PhD in American Studies at the University of Utah. He is a lecturer in the Humanities and American Studies at Utah State University and he has converted to worshipping the desert. He keeps in touch with
Paul Veralli, who is a retired veterinarian and is thriving in the Colorado Mountains.

Received a card from Thomas Herman M.D. who is currently an Associate Professor of Radiology at Washington University, St. Louis, and Associate Radiologist at St. Louis Children's Hospital. His son Peter is a freshman at Boston College; sons Nick and Phil sophomore and freshman, respectively, at St. Louis High; and daughter Claire is in 7th grade.

The College forwarded to me an alumni death notice (these notices are coming too often) reporting the death of Carl Phillips who died this past August at his home in Colchester, Vermont. Carl's death was reported to the College by his mother, Jane Phillips.

Some of the news that is contained in the class column at times seems dated. Unfortunately, this is due to the fact that we must submit initial proofs more than two months prior to publishing, and is compounded by the fact that there has been a scarcity of information from classmates. It is difficult, therefore, to keep everyone appropriately informed…such is the drudgery of a Class Secretary.

For those interested, you can get a headstart on the Reunion by spending Saturday and Sunday, June 10 & 11, 2006, at the Moosilauke Lodge. Pete Webster is coordinating this pre-Reunion activity which will include hiking, meals and overnight lodging. Please note that this is an extra day that is not part of the Reunion fee (that means you are going to pay extra!). A separate sign-up form will be sent. For more information contact Pete at manmgr@sover.net.

That's it for now - more reunion information will be forthcoming in a separate mailing.
