| "The
Board of Trustees has worked well this year with the Alumni Liaison
Committee (ALC) of the Alumni Council. The ALC consists of Alumni
Council and Association of Alumni leadership and other alumni representatives.
This is the second year of operations for the ALC and it is meeting
its responsibility of communicating alumni views to the Board of Trustees and College administration very well.
Recently, John Donahoe, Chair of the Board's Alumni Relations Committee, and I reviewed and discussed the ALC's second annual report concerning alumni sentiment. The Board remains committed to engaging in a two-way dialogue with the alumni through the ALC and working with alumni to further the mission of the College. We encourage all alumni to use their council representatives and the ALC as a resource to communicate with the College." Ed Haldeman '70 Dear Fellow Alumni, The Dartmouth Alumni Council is once again reaching out to inform you of our activities and to encourage your continued important feedback. To that end, we are pleased to notify you that the Alumni Council's Alumni Liaison Committee (ALC) has completed its second annual report to the Board of Trustees. The report is available at http://alumni.dartmouth.edu/news.aspx?id=502. The ALC annual report summarizes the council's activities for the year 2008 -2009, including interactions with the trustees and College, and alumni communications with council representatives and the ALC. The ALC includes elected/nominated members from the Alumni Council, the Association of Alumni Executive Committee, and the general alumni body. The ALC gathers feedback from individual alumni and shares this information with the trustees, the College administration, and the general alumni body. Flow charts of how the ALC functions and interacts with alumni groups and the College are available at www.alumni.dartmouth.edu/council/resources. As chair Ed Haldeman '70 affirms above, the trustees are listening to you and are committed to this two-way dialogue with the alumni through your council reps and the ALC. It's a great time to communicate with the College. There are times when the ALC receives suggestions from alumni that can be put into immediate action. One example is the AGood Reads@ faculty booklist, available at www.alumni.dartmouth.edu/council/goodreads. This website has drawn great attention from the alumni, well over 5,000 hits, and will be updated again this year. Please send your comments, questions and suggestions regarding the report to alc@alum.dartmouth.org, because we want to hear from you. You can also find your council representative for the 2009-2010 year at www.alumni.dartmouth.edu/council_members.aspx. We at the Alumni Council are inspired by you and your communications, and are looking forward to a great year of dialogue with you. Best regards, Janine Avner '80 John (J.B.) Daukas '84 |
