The second
thing you should do is check into your dorm. You should have received
your
housing confirmation in the mail telling you which dorm
you are staying at. You should go to the main lobby of that dorm and
check in. You may check in at the dorm between 8 am and midnight. Between
midnight and 8 am, you can go to the C & R housing office in Mid-Mass
and receive your keys.
I never received my housing confirmation. How will
I know what dorm I am staying at?
You should call the Commencement and Reunion Housing Office: 603.646.3288
Will I be allowed to stay in the dorms if I have
not registered for reunion?
Reunion housing (in the dorms) is only available for those classmates
(and their guests) who are officially attending reunion (and registered).
...parking?
If you arrive before 5 pm on Friday, you should park at a meter, a
garage in town (check out the garage next to Ben & Jerry's), or
park at Thompson satellite parking. After 5 pm on Friday, you may park
at any legal spot on
campus.
If I arrive at reunion without a housing reservation,
will I be able to stay in the dorms?
The dorms will likely be full by the start of reunions, so the
answer is probably no. Your best bet is to call the Commencement
and Reunion Housing Office: 603.646.3288
Can I register for the reunion when I arrive in
Hanover?
Yes, you can. You should come to the registration tent and register and pay
with either a credit card (Visa or Mastercard) or by check (payable to the
Dartmouth College Class of 1976). To avoid waiting in a line at registration
(and to help us make sure we have enough food and refreshments), we encourage
you to register online before reunion.
If you register after June 4, you will receive reunion
gifts if a sufficient quantity is available.
When is the reunion?
Our class reunion will be held in Hanover from Thursday, June 15 to Sunday,
June 18, 2006.
When should I plan to arrive/depart?
Reunion events will begin on the afternoon of June 15 and will conclude midafternoon
on June 18.
When do we register for reunion?
Registration for reunion will open in January 2006, and will continue through
May 2006. Onsite regstration will also be available.
How will we register?
In March 2006, you will receive a registration mailing that will include information
on registering online or via U.S. mail.
How do I know you received my payment/registration?
A list of those who have officially registered for union will be posted on
the reunion website after January 2006.
Can we go to some events and not others? Do we
have to pay for all events?
The class reunion is a package deal, and all events are covered in the registration
fee (with the exception of a limited number of special events, such as the
day trip to Moosilauke). Because we need to recover expenses and have overhead
that extends beyond specifiec reunion events, we are unable to offer registration
on a per-event basis.
However, the reunion committee has decided to offer a one calendar day
registration for $175 for adults, $80 for children. The reunion t-shirt
is the only reunion gift included with this special rate.
I don't feel like paying my fair share, so I plan
to drop in on a few events instead of registering. Will that be a problem?
Besides the obvious ethical violation, only those who have registered will
receive a reunion badge and wrist band. You must be wearing the name badge
to attend reunion events and you must be wearing the wrist band to be served
any reunion food or beverage. No exceptions are possible.
Should '76 couples register for reunion separately
or have one person register and put the other as their guest?
It is up to you and your significant other how you would like
to register for reunion. From our perspective, it does not make
a difference, as long as you indicate that you are both members
of the class. Both individuals will be included on all attendance
lists, so you can feel free to register in the way that best
fits your situation.
Does the manner in which '76 couples
register have any effect on how you are housed in the dorms?
Registration for housing and subsequent room assignments
is completed by the College in a process completely separate
from this registration. Look for more details in the spring.
I am a parent and will be bringing my
child along to the reunion. Are there any child care options
available?
We are thrilled you will be joining us for reunion and bringing along your
child! We suggest the best option is for you to arrange your own child care
by hiring a Dartmouth student who meets your need and expectations through
the Student Employment Office (http://www.dartmouth.edu/~seo/index.html).
How much will reunion cost?
At this point, $325 for each adult and $150 for each child.
What does the cost of registration include
(and not include)?
Your registration fee covers your meals and beverages (reception Thursday,
breakfast and dinner Friday, breakfast and dinner on Saturday and brunch on
Sunday), a special souvenir, and the entertainment and activities over the
course of the weekend. Your registration fees do NOT include housing
for the weekend.
Why do I need to pay to go to the reunion?
The class needs to charge a fee to recover the actual costs of
reunion weekend, including not only charges for food and entertainment,
but also more mundane costs such as room rentals, security, supplies,
and the like. We would not be able to provide this quality event
without asking that each individual pay a registration fee.
Is there a discount for paying early?
Yes.
My plans have changed. Is a refund possible?
If you request a refund before June 4, you will receive what you paid less
$50 per person to cover the pre-reunion expenses. Refunds requested after June
4 will depend on the availability of funds after all of the reunion expenses
have been paid. Refund requests must be sent in writing to the reunion treasurer,
Gregg Fairbrothers, and received before July 2.
I really want to go to the reunion, but
can't get to Hanover. Will other 76's carpool?
Individuals interested in carpooling to attend reunion in Hanover can utilize
the class discussion board to post and arrange rides. The class discussion
board is available at: http://www.dartmouth.org/~classtlk
Will 75's and 77's be there?
This and all future reunions are on our own, at least according to the schedule
currently in effect.
Can I bring non-Dartmouth people?
You are more than welcome to bring friends, spouses, fiances,
etc. who did not themselves attend Dartmouth. Each individual
attending the reunion will need to pay a separate registration
fee.
How will I know who's coming to reunion?
We have posted the names of the classmates who have already indicated they
will attend or are likely to attend. After January 2006, the site will also
include a list of those who have sent in their registration forms.
What exactly goes on during reunion?
You will have time during reunion to catch up with friends at dinners and special
events as well as at mini-reunions that your house or student organization
sponsors. There will also be time during reunion to learn more about life at
the College today, time to hike Moosilauke, and explore Hanover and the surrounding
area. You can see a tentative schedule of events for reunion on the reunion
website. Stay tuned for more details!
What does residence hall housing include?
You will receive a towel (you might want to bring your own
that?s bigger), linens (pillow/case, sheets and blanket),
and on-campus living nostalgia!
When is my housing application due?
The deadline is for your Housing application is April 17th. Any cancellation
made before the May xxth date is subject to a $25 cancellation fee. There will
be no refunds for cancellations made after May xxth. Remember, the sooner you
get your application in the better as there are a number of other classes reunioning
the same weekend with us and housing spots fill up very quick.
What residence halls will the '76s be
assigned to?
We have been assigned Mid Mass. However, the Office of Residential Life can
not guarantee your room in these locations. Assignments are made on a first
come, first serve basis, so again register for reunion and send in your housing
application soon!
What do I do if I want to share a room
with my best friend(s)?
You will need to send in one application with both (all)
names of the folks wishing to room together. PAYMENT FOR
BOTH MUST ACCOMPANY ONE APPLICATION.
Basically, you'll have to have your friend reimburse you if you?re the one
designated to send in the app for your room. If you are not paying for them,
and want them as a roommate, you can write their name in at the bottom of the
application in the "Special Requests" box. The Office of Residential Life will
do their best to accommodate, but cannot make any guarantees. Remember, if
the housing office doesn't receive an application they won't be able to offer
you housing.
How do I make special requests for first
floor/disabled housing?
On your application form there will be room for special requests. Please feel
in any specific needs you have and the Office of Residential Life will do it's
best to fulfill each request.
When will I know where I am staying?
You will receive your housing confirmation in the weeks prior
to reunion.
When is do I have to check out on Sunday?
Mandatory check out time is 12 pm on Sunday, June 18th. There is another conference
coming in Sunday afternoon so it is imperative that you adhere to your check
out time.
How can I find out more information about
reunion housing?
Simply visit the Office of Residential Life?s reunion housing website
at: http://www.dartmouth.edu/~orl/housing/cr-housing.html or
call the Commencement/Reunion Housing Office at 603-646-3288
Is there room service?
You wish!! :)
How do I get a room at the Hanover Inn?
During reunion weekend, the Hanover Inn is unavailable for use by our class.
If you would like to make arrangements at another hotel in the area, you may
feel free to do so. A partial list of local hotels is available on the Tuck
School's website at: http://www.dartmouth.edu/tuck/about/directions/
hotels.html. Check out our Travel Resources page for
more hotel information.
How can I help?
If you would like to become involved in the reunion planning process, contact
the reunion chair, Andy Gettinger, to learn of opportunities.
