November 4th and 5th!
Right now your class officers are putting together a mini-reunion weekend to celebrate the dedication of the Class of 1978 Life Sciences Center at 10 am on Sat., Nov. 5.
The ceremony will include words from some classmates, and it will be followed by a nice lunch. After the Cornell game, we'll have a class dinner at the West Gym, which will provide a nice opportunity to see some old friends.
But right now I wanted to reach out in a personal way to ask you to put that Nov. 5 dedication and lunch on your calendar. This will be a special moment for our class on many levels, and we want as many classmates as possible to share in it.
We know you lead busy lives and suffer from varying degrees of "Green fatigue." But this dedication is an event at which we'd really appreciate your support, if you can make it.
Naturally, you'll be hearing more about the program for the weekend in emails, invitations and newsletters in the coming months.
Best regards to all of you,
Brooks Clark

The Life Sciences overview is a 34 page .pdf on how the new building will impact the Dartmouth community. View the schedule of events planned for the November 4 through 6th weekend. Here's a sneak peek of the Life Science Building.
The Office of Alumni Relations has an online site with info on the weekend's festivities, ultimately you'll be able to register electronically and see who among your classmates are already signed up.

Hot off the presses, the latest newsletter features the Class of '78 Life Sciences Building to be deicated in just a couple of months. It's a mini-reunion! We hope you can make it. Other news includes Rob Portman's '78 appointment to the Debt Panel, Marc Capobianco who was named Entrepreneur of the Month, and much more...
View the latest newsletter, with Jimmie Lee Solomon's article on diversity, Peter Raskind's reflection on his service as Cleveland schools’ interim CEO; Paul Taylor's personal perspective on the Joplin, Missouri tornado, mini-reunion photos and a list of '78's we're trying to get in touch with.

It's time to elect a '78 Alumni Council representative to succeed Steve Adnopoz, whose term ends this June.
Ray Boniface and Anne Barschall have volunteered to stand for election to represent our class. We appreciate their willingness to serve. This is a non-political election, which partly serves to spark interest in the Alumni Council and class activities.

Dave Graham Takes the Helm as Class President
From Newsletter Editor Brooks Clark:
Serving simultaneously as class president and newsletter editor over the past year, I realized that we needed to 1) strengthen our class management structure, 2) better coordinate our efforts, and 3) update our communications efforts to better support –
• our fantastic army of agents, who we honor on pages 4, 5 & 6;
• our Mini-Reunions (see page 2);
• next fall’s Class of 1978 Life Sciences Bldg. dedication, and
• our 35th reunion in 2013
This became especially clear in July, when I helped judge the dozens of 2010 class activity reports and voted for the Class of ’79 to win its second consecutive Class of the Year Award. The four 78 officers at October’s Class Officers’ Weekend asked the 79 officers how they did it, and they graciously told us. In gentle terms, we were “studying best practices.” In more direct terms, we “got schooled.”
We've got a growing gallery of photos online on Facebook but we need more. Got a favorite shot in the '78 Aegis? Gotten together with some classmates on the ski slopes, on the beach or up in Hanover? Share them, email to Hunt Melville '78 at southwoodstock @ mac.com or post them directly to the Facebook page.
