Marvin, William W. (7/29/1976)
From our 30th reunion memorial service
William Marvin developed leukemia in high school, but nonetheless matriculated with our class. Upon Wick’s 1976 death, Dean Manuel recalled that despite his illness, he “launched into [Dartmouth] with great zest and commitment.”
Letter from Dean Ralph Manuel to Dartmouth President John G. Kemeny
WILLIAM WARWICK MARVIN lost his courageous battle against leukemia on Thursday July 29, 1976 at Herman Hospital in Houston, Texas. Originally from Wayzata, Minn., Wick attended Andover until leukemia first struck and completed his preparation for the College at the Blake School in Minneapolis. Though he knew at matriculation there was little chance that he would finish his degree, Wick launched into his undergraduate career with great zest and commitment. The advance of his illness forced him to withdraw from the College in December, but even to the end Wick’s plans and thoughts were committed to the idea of returning to his College.
