On The 100th Anniversary of Dartmouth Night

We celebrate this grand tradition,
and greet Colgate's hopes with derision.
(Assuming that the Big Green will function with precision.)

We congratulate the freshmen their endeavor
To build the noblest bonfire ever.
(But note that the 79's creation, by law, will always be higher.)

We eagerly await the wisdom of the Head Alum*,
Remembering that we knew him when ....
(Trusting that he's learned something since then.)

Most importantly, we applaud the President's vigorous status
And heartily welcome his return to the campus.

Dartmouth Class of '79**

** The poem from the Class of '79 was the only message
from any Class or Club read at the historic 100th Dartmouth Night.
