Horseback Riding
Horseback riding is available to alumni and their guests at Dartmouth Riding Center at Morton Farm on Laramie Rd. in Etna. Riders of at least intermediate level are invited to take part in a guided in a rail ride. Riders are expected to wear long pants and boots or shoes with a heel. Helmets are provided. Absolutely no children under the age of 9 please. Because we are able to accommodate only a limited number of people, reservations are recommended. Reservation information will be forthcoming.
Jonathan Daniels Climbing Gym
The climbing gym is a great place to try out the popular sport of climbing. The gym has over 20 climbs from easy to very difficult. The Dartmouth Mountaineering Club will be on hand to instruct and demonstrate. The gym is located in Maxwell Residence Hall west of the Thayer School of Engineering, a short walk from the center of campus.
Whitewater Rafting
The White Water Rafting Program is designed to give you the opportunity to have fun with a challenging outdoor experience. The rafts are incredibly stable, yet responsive to coordinated teamwork; working well with four to five other team members is an integral part of a successful white water rafting experience. Kids under 12 are not permitted. Life preservers and helmets will be provided and are required.
The rafting experience uses standard self-bailing rafts on the warm, clean waters of the upper Connecticut River at Hartland Rapids. The Wilder Dam controls water releases that produce 1,2 and 3 rapids during the summer. Hartland also offers a number of practice areas and a relatively short run that can be repeated during the session. We emphasize having fun and getting to know others. Ledyard Canoe Club students, ACA certified instructors, will oversee the program.

Mountain biking tours of the Oak Hill Ski Trails are a lot of fun. Join your classmates and friends for this exciting bike tour led by members of the Dartmouth Cycling Club. Mountain Bikes and helmets are available for rent.
