“Where the Wild Things Went…15 Years Later.”
Remember
Winter Carnival our senior year? Yes, folks, it is reunion time. Friday, June 15
– Sunday, June 17, 2001 is the big weekend. As at our 10th, there will be
joint events with the ‘87s and ‘85s. What we have agreed to do so far is a
joint dinner on Friday evening, a joint panel on Saturday, and a joint memorial
service on Sunday. We will also jointly sponsor an open mike at the Top of the
Hop on Saturday evening. The idea of a joint picnic on Saturday was vetoed by
all three classes.
Plans
are furiously underway. We do have a core committee who will lead the charge on
all fronts, but we’re looking for people to join these committees to make each
piece work even better. We’ll need people before and during reunion. So,
don’t be shy! The committee chairs are as follows:
Joy
Turnheim - Co-chair (Vox86jkt@aol.com)
Liz
McClintock - Acting Co-chair (and willing to hand off to someone else who'd like
to be involved!) (Lmcclint@cmgroup.org)
Erik
Colberg – Treasurer (Erik@tcopeland.com)
Andrea
Lordan – Registration (Andrea_hugh@email.msn.com)
Laura
Gillespie and Dawn Carey – Catering (Laura.L. Gillespie@dartmouth.edu
& Decarey@aol.com)
John
Marchiony – Newsletter (Jmarchiony@capitalyst.com
or John@marchiony.com))
Sarah
Page - Reunion Giving (Spage@h-s.com)
Still
left to fill are Entertainment Committee and Children’s Program. Here are
descriptions of each function:
Entertainment:
Responsible for locating, booking, and making arrangements for all reunion
entertainment from music at the cocktail reception to the band on Saturday
night. Can also help coordinate other activities such as athletics (tennis,
golf, rafting, hiking) and the memorial service. Burgie Howard and Davida
Dinerman have offered to help this person find a band.
Children's Program:
Just like it sounds, organizing events for the kids. The college has a
babysitting service, but if we have folks organizing this aspect it makes it
easier to get information to parents in advance and the events seem to run more
smoothly.
Please
feel free to send any of the above committee members an email with questions, ideas
or if you’re interested in volunteering for a committee. Also, bookmark our
class Web site http://www.alum.dartmouth.org/classes/86/
to stay apprised of news and information.
Elizabeth
Pitt married
Jeffrey Leane (pronounced Lane - Princeton '85) in April, and they now live in a
'tree house' in Mill Valley, CA (there are a lot of redwood trees and the house
blends with the environment). There were 6 classmates at the wedding: Grace
(Jung) Lee, Karen (Boylan) Bushkov, Amanda Reed, Wendy Reed,
Terry Parker '85, and Tito Autrey '85. Grace and her husband, Joon Lee '85, have
two girls. Elizabeth still works at Oracle but telecommutes some days. Sharon
Belanger is now happily married to a wonderful man named Paul Showalter. The
wedding took place on April 29 on a perfect spring day. In attendance were
Sheila Belanger Spurr '88 (sister of the bride), Kathy Gussman '85 as the Maid
of Honor, Beverly Nickerson and Milinda Daye '87. A truly multi-class
reunion! Sharon and Paul first met
while she was a freshman at Dartmouth and he was working in White River
Junction. They connected up again by chance in the Washington DC area after more
than 10 years apart. The couple will continue to reside in Arlington, Virginia.
