us. My
wife, Jean, and I have 5 kids now. Three boys: Sandy (10 1/2),

Johanna (13
months). Plus, just in case things weren't loud and crazy
enough in
our house, we got a dog this spring.” Andrew,
who is the executive director of the Rutgers University Hillel
Foundation, recently received the prestigious Achievement of Excellence
Award
at the Hillel International Professional Staff Conference, held in Princeton, New Jersey. He
was the only Hillel Director so
honored. Citing Andrew as a man of
vision and leadership, Avraham Infeld, interim president of Hillel
International, praised Andrew’s efforts on behalf of Israel Inspires, a
yearlong initiative of positive, pro-Israel activity at Rutgers University. Infeld
noted the highlights of the Israel
Inspires campaign that included a community-wide Israel Inspires Rally
attended
by 7,000 people, featuring speeches by Governor James E. McGreevey,
United
States Senators from New Jersey Jon S. Corzine and Frank Lautenberg,
and
keynote speakers Congressman Arthur Davis (D-AL) and Ido Aharoni from
the
Israeli Consulate, among others. Mark Lamarre recently joined
Wachovia
Securities as managing director and head of the Equity Private
Placements Group
in Charlotte, NC. Mark has 14
years of investment banking experience, most recently as a managing
director at
Credit Suisse First Boston, where he managed the Internet
Infrastructure and
Services Industry group. Prior to CSFB, Mark was a banker at Bank of
Boston
Corporation and Merrill Lynch. He earned his MBA from the Darden
Graduate
School of Business at UVA. Jennifer Harris recently joined
Barclays
Capital as a director in the Communications and Entertainment Group for
the
firm’s Investment Banking Division, Americas. She will be
responsible for the firm’s relationships with the US corporations in
the Media and Publishing industries. Prior to Barclays, Jennifer spent
16 years
at Morgan Stanley where she was most recently an executive director in
the
Global Capital Markets Group. She earned her MBA at Tuck. The year 2004
is the
year of the 40th for most of us. Anyone have a good story to
tell?
I’ll start with this one from Liz Fanlo: “My incredible husband surprised me
at the Montage Resort
in Laguna Beach, California. We were supposed to be there
for a cozy
weekend for two. But as we were taken to our table at their fabulous
restaurant, we were redirected to a party room, where a horde shouted
"Surprise" and "Happy Birthday." After the shock wore off,
I saw not only my two kids (ages 10 and 8), my parents and extended
family
members, but also my college roommates and their families. Jessica
Cohn Healy and her husband, Doug, ('87) came all the way
from New York, where Jessica has recently resumed full time work with
Goldman
Sachs. Karin Bravin and
her husband also flew over to the West coast and
brought their two kids, Charlotte and Jackson. Karin and her husband
own a very
successful art gallery in New York City. Alicia
Macri Lindgren and her husband, Doug, also came to celebrate with
me. Lynne Ten Hoopen Lear and her husband,
Ed, ('83) drove down from their home in Santa Monica with their two kids. Lynne is
working hard
as a board member for a new private high school in Los Angeles, which should open next year. I
would
highly recommend the Montage Resort to any Dartmouth alum with an urge to relax at
one of the
finest hotels California has to offer.”
