The
15th reunion was a great success. Our class raised more than $1.7 million for
the Alumni Fund! We broke all kinds of records for on amount and participation.
About 17 percent of our class attended – a solid turnout for the 15th. A
hearty thanks again to the reunion committee: Joy Turnheim, Liz McClintock, Erik
Colberg, Andrea Lordan, Laura Gillespie, Dawn Carey, John Marchiony, Sarah Page
and Mike Cahn.
The
slate of officers for the next five years are:
President - Joy
Turnheim
Vice President -
Bill Rodgers
Treasurer - Ann
Rooney McShea (returning)
Secretary - Davida
Dinerman (returning)
Newsletter Editor
- John Marchiony (returning). Note: Bill Marozas, Scott Rabschnuk, and Bill Ruhl
all volunteered to join in the newsletter effort and make up things about
classmates.
Webmaster - Mike
Cahn
Our at-large
Executive Committee members are: John Elliott, Howie Hayes, Burgie Howard, Dan
Katzir, Andrea Lordan, Liz McClintock, Sarah Page, Bill Ruhl and Jeff Weiss.
One of the main
initiatives for this group is to boost communications among classmates, draw
people back into the Dartmouth community and increase venues for networking such
as the Web, mini-reunions and the like. Please feel free to contact any one of
the above officers or committee members with ideas. Everyone’s contact
information is on our class Web site at www.alum.dartmouth.org/classes/86/.
Keep the site bookmarked for news, updates and other fun stuff.
Elizabeth
(Pitt) Leane wasn’t able to attend our
reunion due to the birth of her first child. Charlotte Anne was born on May 14,
weighing in at 7 lbs. 14 oz and measuring at 20 ½ inches long. Mom and Dad are
proud and happy parents. Amanda
Reed went to Ecuador after having spent a week building a church in
Honduras. She's going to become and Executive in Residence with two VCs in
Silicon Valley until they find the right company for her to lead. During
reunion, Krista Thomas explained the
deal with the 4,000 McVeigh documents. Burgie
Howard still coaches high school lacrosse, and his players are finally
beginning to test his bluster by taking him on in drills. Parents don't mess
with him when he makes the team continue working out after the "end"
of practice. To all of the men out there who have trouble fitting into clothes
from the typical department store because you’re simply too tall and/or
muscular, Lori Rheingold has the
answer. Lori’s business (www.rheingoldfashions.com)
caters to that hard-to-fit muscular man. Kevin
and Laura Sankey had to get a Suburban to accommodate their two kids and,
most importantly (from the size perspective) two Newfoundland dogs, each
weighing significantly north of 100 lbs. T.G.
Ricker had a political awakening. Mike
Moody recently began as a labor/employment attorney for Timberland. Give a
Rouse for Suzanne (Hall) King. She
has competed in the annual Pole Pedal Paddle three times already…and wins.
Typically, she and her husband, Mark, enter in the pairs division. For the first
time this year, she competed solo. The event takes place in May in Bend, Oregon.
Suzanne juggled five sets of equipment to clock an amazing time of 1 hour, 55
minutes, 19 seconds, which placed her ninth overall among individuals in the
event’s 25th year.
The Jan/Feb. 2002 column will be devoted to special places on campus. Where on campus is near and dear to your heart? Occum Pond? The 4th computer in Kiewit? The stacks? The river at sunset? Please send me your thoughts by October 1. I’ll pass along the particularly unique stories to the editor for consideration in the Magazine’s cover story.
