After graduation, she lived in and worked in London, where she was employeed by IVS Enterprises, a satellite television provider. Kendall graduated from the University of Texas School of Law in 1990 and began her private practice in Dallas upon graduation. She was in private practice until 1997, when she decided to spend more time with her husband and daughters, Lauren (now 8) and Jessica (now 5).

Kendall has taught Pre-Law at Southern Methodist University and The Hockaday School at various times since she graduated from law school. She has always loved the academic environment, and she has worked as a substitute teaher and an Admission Office representative at The Hockaday School. In August she will begin a permanent job teaching 8th grade English at The Hockaday School.

Howard “Howie” Hayes

While at Dartmouth, Howie majored in economics and endured quite a few engineering classes, too. Student activities occupied a great deal of his time, as he served as a class officer sophomore and junior years, a member of the committee on standards junior year, and Treasurer of Psi Upsilon fraternity. He also rowed on the crew team freshman and sophomore years, although he found that his flamingo legs did not generate quite enough power to propel the boat.

After graduation he joined the consulting firm McKinsey & Co., where he worked as a consultant for the next decade (except for an absence to attend Harvard Business School as a member of the Class of 1990). He served as our class secretary for the first five years after graduation.

In 1996 he was bitten by "an entrepreneurial bug of some sort." Rather than doing the high tech thing, he decided to go the opposite direction. He resigned from McKinsey in 1996 to found a business in the glamorous automobile collision repair industry. When this didn't pan out as he hoped, he joined a management team that sought to execute a turnaround of Outboard Marie Corporation, manufacturer of Evinrude and Johnson outboard motors and Chris-Craft boats. Unfortunately, the turnaround effort did not work out and the company filed for bankruptcy protection. He has been looking for another opportunity since February (got any leads?!)

He married Julie Falstad in 1992. They have three sons ages 4, 6, and 7 and make their home in suburban Chicago.

The afternoon is more demanding, taking over as Daddy while Suzie works.

Most of his career has involved bridging the gap between technology and people who need to use it. He's taught elementary school programming and science, tutored high school teachers how to bring computing into their curricula, trained business people in software applications use, provided computer consultancy to small businesses, managed a software support team, an R&D team and a development team.
