Class Officers
President - Bill Rodgers
Bill majored in Economics at Dartmouth. He holds M.A.'s from the University of California, Santa Barbara and Harvard University and a Ph.D. from Harvard. Currently, he is a Professor of Public Policy at Rutgers University and chief economist at the Heldrich Center for Workforce Development. He is also a senior research affiliate of the National Poverty Center, University of Michigan.
Prior coming to Rutgers, he served as chief economist at the U.S. Department of Labor from 2000-2001, appointed to that position by Alexis Herman, U.S. Secretary of Labor. He was also the Frances L. and Edwin L. Professor Cummings of Economics at the College of William and Mary. He is married to Associate Professor Yana V. Rodgers of Rutgers' Women and Gender Studies Department. She is a Cornell alum. They have three children.
Secretary - Davida (Sherman) Dinerman
Davida (Sherman) Dinerman writes the monthly class column in the Alumni Magazine. For the past 20 years, she has also enjoyed conducting alumni interviews in the Boston area and participating in a number of volunteer activities. By day, she is a director at Schwartz Communications, a prominent high-tech PR agency based in Waltham, Mass. and San Francisco, where she is heading into her 10th year. At Dartmouth, she majored in Psychology, played varsity tennis and squash, wrote sports articles for The Daily D and was a member of Hillel and the Fire & Skoal society senior year.
In 1992, she went back to school to earn an MBA at the F.W. Olin School at Babson College. Davida is still an avid and competitive tennis player and lives in Ashland with her husband, Brad (Conn College '87), and their two children Abigail (7) and Ari (4).
Vice President - Joy Turnheim Smith
Joy Turnheim Smith is an Assistant Professor in the Division of Organizational Leadership and Supervision at Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne.
She received her Ph. D. and her M. Phil. from NYU, an M.B.A. from De Paul University and a J. D. from Northwestern University.
She recently finished a term as a member of the executive committee of the Auxiliary Board of the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Joy is also a member of the Junior League of Fort Wayne, where she serves on the board of the Seeds for Tomorrow foundation, and on the community research council.In addition to her love of opera, she's an avid baseball fan, having visited all of the major league baseball parks. She has also served as Secretary of the Dartmouth Club of Chicago, and as an alumni interviewer. She and her husband Doug live in Fort Wayne with their rambunctous golden lab, Andy.
Treasurer - Ann (Rooney) McShea
Ann (Rooney) McShea majored in Government and minored in Economics at Dartmouth. She earned an M.B.A., with Dean's list honors, at the Wharton School in 1993. She has had a variety of positions in the telecommunications field since 1986, most recently with PanAmSat Corporation as director of product development. Ann has served as Class Treasurer for the past 5 years.
