Our class project is expanding!

In addition to supporting undergrads in non-profit internships for off-terms Dartmouth Partners in Community Service (DPCS) is now helping recent graduates!!! As you all know, the economy has severely impacted so many. One of the hardest hit are recent college graduates who have an increasingly difficult time finding their first post-college job. This year has been the inaugural year of DPCS PG (post-grad) with "fellows" (recent graduates) working in one-year long internships in non-profit, community-based internships. The first year has been a great success in New York and we will soon be expanding to include other cities.

For the 2011-2012 year the following have signed on as host organizations: Big Brother/Big Sister; Children's Aid Society; HealthCare Chaplaincy, Montefiore Medical Center (they will keep their existing intern for one more year); NYC District Attorney (up to 5 places); Uncommon Schools (up to 3 places) and The Patrons Program (a combination of the Endowment for Inner-City Education and the Partnership for Inner-City Education.

The program includes a $30,000 stipend (provided by the organization), an alumni mentor (classmates Ricki Stern and J. David Roccaforte are both involved) and monthly seminars for the fellows. You can lean more about this program and our '87 class project at: http://www.dartmouth.edu/~dpcs
