Class Notes - July/August 2008

Hello ‘99s!

I hope you were all able to join us for reunion in June. I will write more reunion news in the next Class Notes but have several updates to share in the meantime.

First, Pete Agnes reports that he and his wife, Dana, welcomed two new additions to their family. On February4 a beautiful boy and girl, Will and Kaden, made Pete and Dana proud (but busy!) parents. Pete writes: "Everyone is doing well here in Westport, Connecticut, and the kids have an ample supply of Dartmouth gear and Dr. Seuss books thanks to all the friends who have visited or been in touch. Will looks more like me and Kaden looks more like my wife, thank God. I was a little worried it would end up the other way around!"

Carrie and Sean Kisker also had baby news to share. On December 10, 2007, the Kiskers welcomed new daughter Merideth Maher Kisker. Carrie writes that Merideth "promises to be tall (like both of us), and is the spitting image of her father!"

Thirdly, Tara Pennington reports that Katie (Jones) Hertzmark and her husband, Mark, recently had a new addition to their family. Margaret "Maggie" Griggs Hertzmark was born on April 5 weighing in at 8 pounds, 2 ounces. The Hertzmarks live in Old Greenwich, Connecticut, and plan to be in Hanover for reunion.

Many congratulations to the Agnes, Kisker and Hertzmark families!

Several of our classmates have also had great achievements to report. Dhruv Prasad writes that he graduated from the Wharton School with an M.B.A. last summer. Dhruv then moved to Boston to take up a role at Thomas H. Lee Partners, a private equity firm. The big news, however, is that Dhruv married Bonnie Bakshi (Delhi University 2001) earlier this year. The newlyweds are enjoying their new lives together in Boston.

Scott Jacobs also had a lot of news to share: 2007 was a big year for Scott, as he completed his M.B.A. at Harvard Business School, was named a George F. Baker Scholar and sold the software company he helped start, PolyServe, to HP. Scott was previously living in London, where he started and ran the international operations for PolyServe and galavanted around the globe talking about "virtualization." Scott is now at McKinsey & Co. in San Francisco helping set up a clean energy practice and is also doing venture capital investment and advisory work. Scott is enjoying life and is glad to be back in San Francisco after several years away.

Finally, Kallie Willets has gotten her teaching career at the University of Texas off to a great start, winning the Natural Sciences Foundation Advisory Council Teaching Excellence Award. Candidates are both nominated and selected by students. Kallie joined the University of Texas last summer to teach analytical chemistry and is now setting up a research lab that will focus on using ultrasensitive molecular photophysics and environmental interactions at the nanoscale level. Well done to Dhruv, Scott and Kallie! They, like many others, have shown what great things our time at Dartmouth has prepared us to do.

That's all the news for now. I hope you are making the most of warm summer weather and I look forward to sharing news with you again soon!
