Class Notes - March/April 2006

Hello '99s! Spring is upon us, and many of you have written with news of recent nuptials or starting a family.

Melissa Kho writes that she and Peichung Chiu (CMU '88) were married in a beautiful outdoor ceremony on September 3, 2005, at Glenmere Mansion in Chester, New York. Yuiko Goto and Lillie Ng were among the bridesmaids at the wedding, and there was a strong Dartmouth contingent. Those attending included Xiaojing Wang, Willy Wong, Grace Eboigbe, Henry Chen, Aiyana Thompson, Catherine McCarthy, Cindy Jwo, Swee Ching Lim, Karen (Hung) Raghaven, Sharat Raghavan '98, Mitch Yashiro '00, Helen Chen '01, Evelyn Chen '01 and Joyce Lee '01. Melissa graduated cum laude from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 2004, and is now a litigation associate at Boies, Schiller & Flexner LLP in Armong, New York. Melissa and Peichung, an IT consultant with Obvia Corp and IMI Group, reside in Westchester County, New York.

Danra Kazenski also has wedding news to share. On October 8, 2005, Danra married Mathieu Courtemanche, a bilingual emcee for a productions company that organizes corporate events in the Montreal area, at a beautiful chalet located on an island just outside of Old Montreal. Their great day was shared by several Dartmouth alums, including Alyson Santoro, Nancy Bloomfield, Janna Merryfield '00 and Maria Stutsman y Marquez '98. Danra is finishing her master's degree in speech language pathology at the University of Vermont, and plans to move to Montreal when she graduates in June and work at the Montreal Fluency Centre, where she will help children with speech difficulties. If you would like to find out more about Danra's wedding and their plans, you can visit their Web site on: www.theknot.com/ourwedding/danrakazenski&matcourtemanche.

Two of you have also reported new additions to your families. Emily Copeland and her husband, Joseph Scott '00, welcomed Owen Bradley Scott into their lives on October 21, 2005. Owen weighed 8 pounds, 9 ounces and measured was 20.5 inches tall when he was born in El Paso, Texas, where Joe is stationed at Fort Bliss. Noreen Nilan Pfadenhaur also reports the arrival of a new family member. Noreen and husband James Pfadenhaur '00 welcomed their beautiful daughter Caroline Grace into the world on September 22, 2005. The happy family is doing well and they currently live just outside of Boston in Newton, Massachusetts.

In other news, Kenneth Graham recently completed his Ph.D. in theoretical physics at Pennsylvania State University. His next plans take him to the University of Michigan, where he is on a postdoctoral fellowship. Congratulations, Ken!

Reminding us all how old we are, Lee Istrail reports that he recently attended his 10th-year high school reunion at the Albuquerque Academy in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The reunion, coordinated by Tara Pennington, had many Dartmouth alums, including Kaitlin Reidy Verber, Brad Verber and Rebecca Brooks Istrail '01.

Finally, I have a correction to make. In the January-February Class Notes, I incorrectly stated that Catherine Maxson married Muhammad Hutasuhut last fall. Catherine married Marc Pieroni (Williams '99) and not Muhammad; Muhammad and Catherine McCarthy were married in November 2005. I apologize for any confusion caused, and wish you all the best in your new lives together!

That's all the news for now. Enjoy the spring weather, and I look forward to hearing any news that you would like to share with the class!
