Class Notes - March/April 2008

Hello '99s!

Spring is quickly approaching, and we have only four months to go before we return home to Hanover for our 10th-year reunion. Our reunion, shared with the classes of '97 and '98, will be held between June 13 and 15. Additional information can be found on the following link: www.dartmouth10threunion.info/.

In the meantime, we have great news and achievements to share. First, Posy (Evans) Parsons writes that she and her husband, Tim, welcomed a new daughter, Eliza, to their family last March in London. Posy writes that she was lucky to take advantage of a year-long maternity leave, common in the United Kingdom, and plans to return to work in March. The Parsons family has made the most of the additional time, traveling most recently to Greece and the island of Madeira.

In other news Cate Mowell writes that she, along with Stephanie Owen '04, have created a company built on their passion for jewelry. The two entrepreneurs met when Stephanie took a new role at Cate's public relations firm. Cate writes: "Stephanie had always designed jewelry and used to sell it from her dorm room at Dartmouth. I knew her designs had commercial viability so we decided to launch the business and named it after Stephanie's sister, Elizabeth Cole Owen '01." The company, Elizabeth Cole, has been featured in magazines such as Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Glamour, Elle and People, and has notable customers including Paula Abdul, Sandra Bullock, Hillary Duff, Faith Hill and Joss Stone, among many others. Their products are sold at a range of high-end retailers including Saks Fifth Avenue, Nieman Marcus, Nordstrom and Bloomingdales, as well as many luxury boutiques around the world. Further details about the company can be found on their Web site, www.elizabethcolejewelry.com.

Finally, Andy Hilton has also made the news when he was named head coach of the MIT lightweight freshman crew in September. While at Dartmouth Andy rowed on the lightweight team and was a co-captain of the 1998-99 squad that won bronze at the IRA National Championship. Following graduation Andy served as the lightweight intern at Harvard between 1999 and 2001, become a part-time coach at the Deerfield Academy between 2002 and 2005 and then served as a coach at California University until taking up his new post at MIT. Congratulations, Andy, and good luck to the MIT team (except when they're rowing against Dartmouth, of course)!

That's all the news for now. I hope you all make the most of the approaching spring weather and look forward to seeing you at reunion in June!
