Class Notes - November 2001

Greetings from Beantown. After a two-year stay down in D.C., I am finally back home in New England. From what I hear, a lot of people also have made the two-year move. Make sure to drop me a note to let me know what you’re up to. On to the news...

I received a long Blitz update from Josh Brann a couple weeks ago. Granted, I was on the list with sixty other people, but I imagine there is someone out there who was not and would be interested in what is going on in his life. Josh wrote, "Finally, after the appropriate amount of hair-pulling, hand-wringing, and sleeplessness necessary for such a decision, I came to the conclusion that the best school for me is the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). I had a strong interest in going to Columbia-where I could have gotten a certificate in conservation biology and possibly learned Nepali-but ended up deciding it wasn't worth the $13,000-$18,000 more per year that it was going to cost. Also influencing my decision was the fact that I was admitted to the SAIS first-year program in Bologna, Italy, so sometime in late August I'll be headed to the culinary capital of Italy for nine months. Everybody needs to come visit sometime!"

In wedding news, Ann DeBord wrote to let me know of her recent engagement to her boyfriend Evan Smith. The wedding date is currently set for May 25, 2002, and will be held in Ann’s hometown of Peoria, IL. Ann put up a wedding website to keep people up to date about it. She wrote, "It has pictures of Evan, me, and our families on it. If anyone wants the URL, they can email me!"

I’m in trouble for not mentioning this one earlier. Jennifer Prusik was married to Brian Moor on May 12, 2001 at West Point. The couple was married in the 200-year-old Cadet Chapel and four of the five bridesmaids were from Dartmouth: Jennifer Parkinson, Libby Reder, Kendra Kosko, and Tully Pruden. Other ’99s included Katy Keller, Michelle Cavallaro, Maureen McAleer, Shana Stevens, Kaitlin Reidy, Michelle Park, Kate Berkeley, Megan Hjermstad, Will Leicht, Sommer Pio, Luke Hart, Alex Kline, Ciaran Connelly, Rosanna Taormina, and Hannah Alldredge. Following the wedding, the couple honeymooned in Hawaii for 10 days.

After two years in McKinsey's Chicago office, Jeffrey Loeb will be moving to Cambridge to begin Harvard Law School. Jeff also reported plans for some other ’99s in Chicago. Beth Westman will be finishing her final year at Northwestern Law School and has accepted a two-year clerkship with the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago. Bryan Martin-Keating will be continuing on for a third year as an economic consultant at NERA's Chicago office. Also starting school in the fall is Nicole Eftychiou, who will be entering her first year at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Thomas Reynolds met up with a bunch of Theta Delts and other ’99s for some Chicago Cubs games this summer. Treynolds and Jay Tatum, Eben Darling, Will Leicht, Michelle Park, Todd Becker, and Brandon Henry were all in town. They met up randomly with Chris Showalter, Ben Reife, Chris Davidson, Kirk Spahn, Scott Peach, Chris Emond, Matt Geidt, and a few other Heorots at a barbecue before one of the games. "A spontaneous Golden Keg almost broke out," wrote Trey, "but none of us approve of such behavior."
