Class Notes - November 2004

Hello ’99s! Five months have passed since our fifth-year reunion, and the class of 2008 has made its way to the Hanover Plain. It’s amazing how much our lives have changed since we first arrived in Hanover nine years ago! As the ’08s adjust to the challenges of Dartmouth and wonder what they will do in life, our lives are starting to take shape.

On that note, Jason Dadakis, has had a busy summer! In May he graduated from the University of Arizona with an M.S. in hydrology. Two weeks later he married Katey Ritrovato ’98 on May 30 in beautiful Sedona, Arizona. A total of 24 Dartmouth alums attended, ranging from ’93s to ’01s; his groomsmen included Doug Van Citters and Duncan Simmons. After a great two-week honeymoon in Hawaii and a visit to Hanover for reunions,

Jason and Katie moved to Huntington Beach, California, where Jason helps ensure a reliable water supply for the Orange County Water District.

Anna Tsouhlarakis has had an exciting summer and fall! Anna spent six weeks in Southeast Asia and spent much of this time volunteering in Cambodia with Dickon Verey ’97. Next fall Anna plans to move to New York City, where her boyfriend, Daron Carreiro, is studying at Columbia Law School.

Erik and Andrea Eckberg have also had news to report. Erik is pursuing a master’s in geology at the Colorado School of Mines, and Andrea is balancing various business opportunities with raising their son, Alex. Erik writes that they are getting used to life in Denver, but "late-April snows and random temperatures swings make us feel more at home!"

Finally, Nathaniel Fick has contributed to the ongoing debate of resuming the national draft, in an op-ed piece in The New York Times (July 20). Nathaniel’s service as a captain in the U.S. Marine Corps has put him in the front lines of Afghanistan and Iraq. He reminds us of the dedication and skills of our armed forces, and argues that the voluntary spirit of military service is a key component of its strength. Nathaniel is now writing a memoir describing his military training and combat experience.

This issue’s news will be short. If you have any news that you would like to share with the class, let me know! I will also e-mail some of you randomly to see if you have any news, to make sure that as many people as possible are heard. In the meantime, enjoy the snow and the holiday season!
