Class Notes - November 1999

Howdy Ho 99s! Kendra K here filling in for Seth as he stirs up trouble in Ireland, Scotland, England, etc. I'm also moonlighting as his real estate agent, so if you're looking for a place in the DC area, I'm your girl. Since Seth is not one to brag about himself and this is usually his column, I have the distinct honor of updating you all about him: Seth Kelly just got a job at the Institute of Medicine and will be moving to DC with John Muckle just days after his return to the states. It seems like Seth isn't the only one traveling before entering the big bad "real world." Matthew Clendenny spent three weeks this summer backpacking through Europe before settling down in Hartford, CT to work in equity research. Although many 99s opted for European tours as their post-graduation vacation of choice, a handful of people went west and traveled cross-country. Jake Sheilds, TJ O’Neill, Pat Deleon and Kevin Goldman noted that the highlights of their trek were Wall Drug, the World’s Largest Corn Palace and Vegas, baby! And when they reached Vegas, they caught up with the man behind the man, John Garber. It was money, baby. Posy Evans reported that she traveled through the west with Andy Maxiner, Travis Gardner and Chris Rowland. According to Posy, they explored Washington state and hiked through Glacier Park in Montana. Travis, however, elaborated on a different part of their journey. One week after Travis and Chris arrived in San Francisco, the car which Chris bought right after graduation was stolen. The good news- he got it back. The bad news- it has no parts, not even seats. Ouch. And in a "it’s a small world after all" story, Ann De Bord tells us that when she and Marisa Kolodny passed through the Arches National Park, they passed into not one, but two 99s, Danielle Poulin and Erik Eckberg.

Beth Knowlton just got together with Chloe Rowe, Gretchen Saegh and Sarah Plecuch at the Brew Moon in Cambridge. She was nice enough to drop a note and let us know what they are all up to now. Chloe is at med school at Vanderbilt. Gretchen is a head-hunter in Chicago. Beth is in Buenos Aires, Argentina doing volunteer work at Hospital Italiano and the CENI Institution and Sarah is working as a clinic coordinator at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. Another Bostonian, Kevin Findlan writes in to ask: "Does anyone in Boston have air conditioning?" If you see Kevin hanging out often in the frozen foods aisle in some Boston grocery store, you now know why.

Well, I think that is all the news I have for the time being...Seth will be back next issue. I'll give his plug for sending information. If you don't send anything in, he may just have to make something up about you and you wouldn't want that now, would you? So send all of your updates to:

Seth Kelly,
seth.kelly.99@alum.dartmouth.org

And you can always send information to me for the Newsletter. The next issue will be the first annual holiday edition. Wait anxiously by your mailboxes in December. And send in those suggestions for newsletter names. The lucky winner will be getting a Dartmouth chair.

It's been fun, kids. Maybe I'll fill in again later. Bye bye! Kendra Kosko,
