Class Notes - November/December 2005

Hello 99s!

It's hard to believe that yet another year has passed, and that the New Year is already upon us. I hope you enjoyed the holiday season, and that 2005 was, on the whole, a good and memorable year for you all. It has certainly been a year not to forget, marked by natural disasters such as Hurricane Katrina, the threat of bird flu, and terrorism. Let's hope that 2006 will be a more peaceful time.

Sarah Delaney has kept herself quite busy since graduation. After working with CBS News in New York and designing philanthropic programs for corporations in Boston, Sarah returned home to home to go to law school at the University of Washington. While in law school, Sarah tried three cases at the King County Prosecutor's Office, where she tried three cases before juries. Sarah also interned with Nina Totenberg at the NPR in Washington, DC, attending Supreme Court arguments and helping her put together her cases. Sarah graduated in June, and spent her summer travelling in Guatemala and Belize. Sarah just recently passed the bar exam is now working as an Assistant Attorney General in the Social and Health Services Division for the State of Washington.

Debbie Bender also reports some changes in her life, noting that she is moving to Los Angeles from Boston to experience life on the West Coast. Debbie writes: "I've been working for HawkPartners, a small marketing consulting firm for the past few years, and they are letting me keep my job and start an LA office! I have a few friends out there but am excited for any Dartmouth connections or friend referrals." If you live in the LA area, be sure to get in touch with Debbie and say hi!

Debbie also reports that Catherine Maxson and Muhammad Hutasahut are getting married in November in the New Jersey/Philadelphia area. Debbie, Sara Zrike, are bridesmids Cynthia (Anderson) Hansen, and they are all excited about the upcoming nuptials. In other wedding news, Danille Poulin writes that Stacey Davis got married to Oscar Lopez Acosta, whom she met whilst on a Tucker Fellowship in Nicaragua in the summer before her senior year. Danielle writes: "The ceremony took place on June 19 in Sugar Hill, NH at an inn overlooking the White Mountains. It was a scenic and star-filled evening with many of Stacey's family and friends from around the country in attendance to celebrate with the couple." Stacey and Oscar live in Berkeley, California where Stacey works for the San Francisco Public Health Department and Oscar is undertaking the dental board exams.

That's all the news for now. I wish you all the best as you start the New Year, and look forward to your updates!
