Class Notes - November/December 2006

Hello 99s! It is hard to believe that the holiday season is already upon us, and that yet another year is coming to an end. We have quite a lot of news to share!

First, there has been a change in leadership for your 1999 Executive Committee. Michelle Sweetser was elected President by a vote of the full Executive Committee for a term beginning in August 2006 and continuing until our 10th reunion in June 2008. She succeeds Melissa Maggio who had served as President for the past two years.

Michelle has shown an unfailing passion for and dedication to our class through taking on an almost single-handedly sustaining the class newsletter since its inception, serving as 5th reunion co-chair, and participating in numerous other committees. She is also active in the Class Officers Association as President of the Class Newsletter Editors Association and through that role serves on the Alumni Council as well. Michelle worked in Alumni Relations at Dartmouth as an Assistant Director and currently works in the Department of Special Collections and University Archives at Marquette University. We are confident that Michelle will inspire us with her thoughtful leadership, unflagging energy to accomplish the task, and her genuine amiability. Many thanks to Melissa for her service to the class, and congratulations and best of luck to Michelle!

In other news, Dustin Rubenstein writes that he has recently finished his Ph.D. in Neurobiology and Behaviour at Cornell University. He spent much of the past six years doing field research in Kenya. While Dustin was getting his Ph.D., his wife, Kate (Weiss) Rubenstein ’00 finished her MBA at the Cornell Johnson School in 2005. After spending the past year living in Stamford, CT, the couple will be moving to San Francisco in July. Dustin will be starting a Miller Fellowship at Berkeley and work in the Integrative Biology Department. Kate is in her second and final year of sales and marketing leadership program at GE. After 2 six-month rotations in Commercial Finance in Stamford, she will be working in San Francisco in Consumer Finance.

Finally, Joel Stanton notes that there is a new addition to his family. Joel and his wife Hilary (Cheyne) Stanton became the proud parents of their second child, Clover Ruth Stanton, on 4 May 2006. Clover’s big brother, Simon, is 2 now, and the whole family is doing well. Joel is a Manager for Dove Consulting in Boston and Hilary is currently a stay-at-home Mom, doing some independent software consulting on the side. Congratulations and best wishes to the Stanton family!

That's all the news for now. I wish you all a warm and enjoyable holiday season and I look forward to learning about any news you might have to share in the New Year!
