Class Notes - September 2004

Hello '99s!

It's hard to believe that five years have passed since we last saw each other in Hanover as a class. Our fifth-year reunion, by all accounts, was a successful and memorable event. We had a record turnout of 450 people, who gathered to enjoy Dartmouth, late-night EBAs and a little pong or beer-infused karaoke. Our spirit and love for Dartmouth was strong, and was demonstrated by our contribution of $45,000 to the Dartmouth College Fund, the third highest ever for a fifth-year reunion. We also remembered those who are no longer with us. Kate Botham led a touching memorial service for Juan Cisneros and Lynn Proctor. It's amazing how much we have all grown and accomplished, and it will be great seeing what the next five years will bring.

One notable change coming from reunion is our class executive committee. We have a great group of 25 people who are passionate about Dartmouth and our class. Our new officers are: Melissa Maggio, president; Kevin Findlan, vice president; Jeffrey Fine, treasurer; Tony Perry, secretary.

The class executive committee exists to keep our class together and it hopes to build on the spirit that made our class so great while we were in Hanover. You can find out more on the class of 1999 Web site, at www.dartmouth.org/classes/99/.

Quite a lot has happened since our last update!

First, I'm happy to announce that Raadha Brayce and Adam Jacobstein were married on March 13 in Hawaii. Jordan (Kritzer) Fiorintini writes that Raadha and Adam "were wed on Maui surrounded by Mt. Haaleakela, the ocean and all the beauty of the island in between. The wedding ceremony was so picturesque, presided over by Adam's brother in the light rain, the sunshine and large smiling rainbow." In attendance were Annie Rosa '02, Melanie Soares, Jaime Fisher, Seth Pevnik, Jordan Fiorintini, Mamie Lawrence, Michael Gallagher '01, Abby Augusta '98 and Stephen Jacobstein '63. Also, Monica Cha and Michael Sunwoo '97 were married on June 12 in New York City. Several Dartmouth alums were there to celebrate, including Sophia Cha '95 (Monica's sister), Erica Nobori, Yoona Park, Jaime Jackett, Steve Oh '98, Jay Park '98, and Seung Jae Keh.

Also, Jordan Kritzer married Emanuele Fiorentini on May 15 at the family Frogtown Winery in Dahlonega, Georgia. Raadha Brayce writes: "Jordan met Emanuele while working at a winery in the Tuscany area of Italy, and it was love at first sight. A crew of Dartmouth friends stayed with Jordan and Emanuele and spent the weekend tasting the wonderful Frogtown wines, eating delicious food, and listening to the bullfrogs in the pond out back. Including myself and husband Adam Jacobstein, Martinique Devereaux, Melissa Draper, Amie Servino, Doug Morton, Lindsay Morton, Robert Tichio and Maya Tichio, and Abby Augusta '98 danced the night away at Frogtown."

Finally, a group of alums organized a great event to raise funds for the Juan P. Cisneros Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship was created at Dartmouth to recognize students who exhibit the ideals that Juan represented. Ofer Zer, Josh Oberman, Adam Siegel '00, Pankaj Gupta '98 and Brian Mosley '98 organized the fundraiser at the Tribecca Grand Hotel in memory of Juan Cisneros, who perished in the World Trade Center attacks on September 11. The event was a great success, and raised nearly $7,000 in Juan's name. If you would like to contribute to the scholarship, you can send your gifts to: Ms. Nancy Bates, Office of Donor Relations, Dartmouth College, 6066 Development Office, Hanover, NH 03755-3555; (603) 646-3613.

There is one correction to note: In an earlier Class Notes Ernest L. "Andy" Warner III was reported to have married. This is untrue, and I apologize for any inconvenience caused.

As secretary I will have big shoes to fill as I take over from Seth Kelly's great work. I look forward to hearing from each of you, and sharing your news and updates with our class. You can blitz me your updates or send them by regular mail. I hope to hear from you soon!
