| Give a Rouse! |
The
following area "Pea-Greeners" entered the Class of 2007
this Fall: Celia Carmen (Ann Arbor Pioneer), Scott Fishwick (U.
of Detroit Jesuit), Kelsey Helland (Greenhills School), Mark Hoipkemier
(East Lansing High), Michelle Hunscher (Ann Arbor Pioneer), Patricia
Inman (Crestwood High), Daniel Kelmenson (West Bloomfield High),
Joseph Kutney (Walled Lake Central), LaVon Morgan (University Liggett),
Elise Morrison (Detroit Country Day) and Severina Ostrovsky (West
Bloomfield High). Congratulations and welcome to our newest members
of the Dartmouth family!
The Big Green men's and women's sailing teams placed sixth and
fourth, respectively, at the Intercollegiate Sailing Association
North American Championship in June, 2003 hosted by the Grosse
Pointe Yacht Club. The Dartmouth men posted a 3-4 record, defeating
Georgetown, Hawaii and Southern California. The Dartmouth women
fell one point short of third-place Old Dominion in the 18 school
competition.
We were saddened by the passing in September of Gene Perle '57,
an ardent supporter of the College and our Club. Gene was a former
Club officer, an active interviewer and school representative
and a national and international squash champion. Gene's wit,
loyalty and passion for Dartmouth touched us all. Memorial donations
may be made to Friends of Dartmouth Squash, Attn: June Marshall,
Dartmouth College, 6083 Alumni Gym, Hanover, NH 03755.

| More than just Detroit! |
| There are nearly 500 Alumni/ae in District 482 scattered between
the Ohio Border and the Macinac Bridge, in the Eastern half of the
lower peninsula of Michigan. Many live in the renaissance city of
Detroit, reviving its former grandeur across the river (immediately
South) of Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Detroit is surrounded with a
variety of lakeside suburbs to the East (including the Grosse Pointes
and St. Claire Shores) and in the Northwest, in the lake country
beyond Birmingham and Bloomfield Hills. To the west, many alums
live in and around Ann Arbor, the seat of the University of Michigan.
Farther West and somewhat North lies Lansing, the state capitol,
and East Lansing, the seat of Michigan State University. An hour
or so north, there is another distinct concentration of alums in
the tri-cities of Midland, Bay City, and Saginaw. Midland claims
a higher concentration of PhD's, at Dow Chemical, than in any other
urban area. There are fewer alums living farther north, but they
benefit from proximity to skiing, beautiful state and national forests,
and extensive Great Lakes Shoreline. Welcome to the extended family
of the Dartmouth Club of Detroit. |
