darthall1 pictureThe importance of our club
(and the benefit to our membership) is documented by the caliber of the speakers who come annually to speak to us at their own expense. A few who come to mind are: Dartmouth First Lady Susan Wright, Jay Fiedler, quarterback of the Miami Dolphins, Dartmouth President Emeritus David McLaughlin, Sitting Presidents of the College James O. Freedman and James Wright, Dave Gavitt, V.P. of the Boston Celtics; Fred Whittemore, philanthropist and retired managing director of Morgan Stanley; Reggie Williams, Cincinnati City Councilor and eye-catching pro football player; Bob Keeshan, a.k.a. the inimitable Captain Kangaroo; Walter Peterson, former governor of New Hampshire and past president of the University of New Hampshire; Susan Dentzer, economics columnist for U.S. News and World Report and recently elected chair of the Dartmouth College Board of Trustees; Tom Farmer, producer of the Larry King Live Show; Jud Hale '55, editor-in-chief of Yankee Magazine and the Old Farmer's Almanac, etc.

Another recognition for the club has come from the Alumni Club Association of Dartmouth College which rewards individual clubs for outstanding achievements for Dartmouth. We are extremely pleased that we were designated the "Metro Club of the Year" for 2000-01 and "Outstanding Large Club" in 1987 and 1997 with a special award for "Sustained Excellence" in 1996 and 2000. But, in spite of this outstanding performance we are sure that our most productive days are still ahead of us!

But perhaps the most important recognition for the DCUV, or any other club, is reflected in its voluntary membership. We are now the second largest Dartmouth Club in the world with 460+ members. That is the best endorsement possible that we are delivering important benefits to our membership.
