About
DAANYC vs. the Dartmouth Club – What is the Difference?
All alumni of Dartmouth College, including the graduate schools, who reside in the 5 boroughs of NYC and in Westchester are automatically members of DAANYC (Dartmouth Alumni Association of New York City), and are encouraged to pay dues (click here for Big Green Gram) to support our programs. We welcome memberships from Dartmouth parents and from alumni residing outside our area as well.
The DARTMOUTH CLUB of New York (information and application below) is a private club that uses the facilities of the Yale Club. Dartmouth Club membership is open to all alumni of Dartmouth including the graduate schools, as well as to Dartmouth parents and offspring of alumni. Members of the Dartmouth Club of New York receive all the benefits of DAANYC membership.
Statement of purpose
The relationship established between the individual and Dartmouth College as a part of the undergraduate experience can and should continue through the alumni years. It is this relationship which makes the alumni a strong, united force working with and on behalf of the College to further its purposes. The Dartmouth Alumni Club plays a major role in maintaining the relationship between the alumni and the College and the fulfillment of the purposes and needs of both.
The following club purposes are suggested as a guide to all club officers:
- To initiate and encourage activities which promise to further the welfare and best interests of Dartmouth and contribute to the individual alumnus as a person.
- To enlighten alumni as to the changing nature of the Dartmouth experience in matters of social, educational and humanistic matters and thus help to develop an alumni body which is informed and effective in furthering the purposes of Dartmouth.
- To influence outstanding young men and women to select Dartmouth for an undergraduate education.
- To offer programs of common alumni interest such as Alumni Seminars or other selected programs which stimulate thought on issues of the day.
- To foster a continuing relationship with undergraduates so that some day they will play an active role as alumni.
- To assist in the area of job placement.
- To establish where possible a club scholarship to support a local boy or girl at Dartmouth and strengthen the College scholarship program.
- To serve when possible the local community as a positive influence that can be counted upon for helpful and constructive effort.
