Security Issues and Techniques

There are two major areas of concern: site security and data security.

Site security

This relates to keeping the site safe from hackers who want to break in and either deface the site or use it as a remote agent to do things like send spam.

This page discusses some options for site security, with the pros and cons of each.

Data security

This relates to keeping personal information including addresses, phone numbers, E-mail addresses, and children's names/ages on the site from being viewed or harvested by marketers or others outside the Dartmouth community. The Association is developing a Best Practices for Security document.
