DCWA Alumni Council Representative

The Dartmouth Class Webmaster's Assocation now has a representative on the expanded Alumni Council.

Peter Elias '69 (Webmaster for the Class of 1969 and for the DCWA) was elected in June 2008 to serve as the DCWA representative to the Alumni Council. He will be posting information about meetings here on a regular basis, to keep the Web'sters updated, and to solicit ideas and concerns to bring to Alumni Council. Feel free to e-mail Peter with questions or suggestions.

The Alumni Council is intended to function as a 'senate' for the Dartmouth alumni. Its official mission is to sustain a fully informed, representative, and engaged exchange of information and sentiment between alumni and their College, and to enhance and inspire alumni involvement that furthers the mission of the College.

It has grown from 25 members at its inception in 1913 to 125 members today, apportioned as follows:

  • Class representatives: 58
  • Affiliated Alumni Groups: 10
  • Members at large: 6
  • Regions/clubs: 20
  • Class Officers Association: 5
  • Undergraduate (nonvoting): 4
  • Professional schools: Dartmouth Medical School, Tuck School of Business, Thayer School of Engineering: 6
  • Arts and Sciences Graduate Program: 2
  • Club Officers Association: 3
  • District enrollment directors: 1
  • Faculty (nonvoting): 1
  • Council president and president-elect: 2??
  • Chairs of Alumni Awards, Alumni Liaison, Nominating, and Young Alumni Awards Committtees: 4??
  • Current and past two Association of Alumni presidents: 3??

The AC meets in late fall and late spring in Hanover. The honor of membership comes with an obligation to attend meetings and contribute. A schedule of coming meeting dates is available on the Dartmouth Alumni Relations site. The Council is broken into a number of committees: Academic Affairs, Alumni Awards, Alumni Liaison, Committee on Communications, Enrollment and Admissions, Executive Committee, Honorary Degrees, Nominating and Alumni Trustee Search, Student Affairs, Young Alumni and Young Alumni Awards, as well as occasional special or ad hoc committees. Peter will be serving on the Academic Affairs Committee.

Much more information about the alumni council, its history, a directory of councilors, a president's page, information about awards, and news and minutes are available on the Dartmouth Alumni Relations site.
