The 05s reminded Dartmouth why they're the best class ever

05 Years later, the 05s came out in numbers to their five year reunion, breaking both reunion records for attendance.
With 473 alumni and 543 total reunion attendees, the 05s have set the bar high for the Class of 2006, just as the class did when it shattered the Senior Class Gift participation record back in 2005. 05s will remember that they achieved a record 38% participation, up from the previous record of 13%. Subsequent classes followed their lead, raising the stakes each time. The Class of 2010 recently acheived nearly perfect participation, with all but one member donating.
In addition to setting the attendees records, the Class of 2005 had 226 classmates pay class dues during reunion registration, and over 41% of the class contributed towards a class gift that was received by President Jim Yong Kim during Saturday's Lobster Dinner
Highlights of the reunion weekend included pizza in front of Baker Tower on Friday, a lobster dinner on Saturday, and various socials in between. Class President Tim Millikin laid out the class's objectives for the next five years during the Class Meeting and Jason Edgar announced the incoming officers for the class. The new officers include Tim Millikin (President), Kaitlin Jaxheimer (Vice President), Lindsey Horton (Secretary), and Kyle Polite (Treasurer). Officers' terms will last 5 years.
Amongst the many changes since the Class of 2005 last stepped on campus en masse were many new buildings, including Kemeny Hall and the Haldeman Center, and a host of new residential buildings and updates to existing dorms. But a few fraternities and sororities experienced life without full use of their physical plants.
Phi Delta Alpha caught fire in January, making the house uninhabitable for the summer term. However, the house was still able to host reunioning 05s on the Phi Delt lawn on a warm and lively Saturday night. Sorority Alpha Xi Delta moved to a new house on Wheelock Street after many years renting the former Beta house on Webster Ave. Beta has recolonized on campus, meaning the Alpha Z's had to find a new location.

The 05 SigEps gather around their recently demolished house

Unlike the other displaced houses, however, the brothers of SigEp found only pieces of what used to be 11 Webster Ave as the SigEp house was torn down just hours before many 05s arrived on campus. The fraternity plans to build a brand new house that will be up to code with a larger basement and more livable area. The SigEp 05s were disappointed that the demolition couldn't have waited until after the weekend but were told that in order to have the house ready for move-in by January 1, every construction day was crucial.
On a somber note, many were sad to mourn the passing of several 05s, including Jordan Feltus and James Russell. A memorial service was held for both on Friday evening on the steps of Dartmouth Hall, and the AXA brothers planted a tree in front of their house in memory of Russell.
The Class's next reunion will be in 2014, just four years away. Three classes are paired together to celebrate the 10-year reunion together. The 05s will be paired with the 03s and 04s, meaning their 10th reunion will be on their 9th anniversary from graduation.
